150 mile F40 to sell for?

Considering they sold a 400 mile car for $735k, I'm sure they will be in no hurry to sell it for any less than that. Some fellow recently suggested these cars may be $1mill in value 5yrs from now...a recent offer for an old blokes car in England suggests his timeline was off a bit....

 

It doesn't cease to amaze me that someone can own a car such as the F40 for 15 years and basically not drive it at all during the whole time..

Any idea if the 150 mile F40 is the same car that was displayed at Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach? Or is this the California F40 that was offered on ebay a couple of times in the past? How many under 300 mile USA F40's are out there???
You would seldom see something with that mileage in Europe. 600KM was the lowest mileage F40 offered lately.

I dont know about a 150 mile car, but I saw a 681 mile car sell at auction in Atlanta recently for 575,000 including buyer's premium. I dont see the difference between a 150 and 681; other than 531 miles.

I also am noticing that several pristine cars are coming to market more often recently. Maybe owners feel it is time to sell at the "top". I still believe the probably recession coming our way will drive these prices down again, as it had in the past.

 

Crazy, how could you not drive a F40!

Will sell for mega $$$$ though.

 

I know better than to ask but since someone indicated that they knew...

 

Anyone know what their asking price is for the 13k miles car?

This has been discussed before. I have printed tests as low as 3.5. Most average to be about 3.8. Anything over 4.0 must have been driven by some 90 year old lady with arthritis in her wrist.

 

These have been posted before, but here is a list of all the best stats we have come to find in PRINT from a major magazine.

0-60 MPH time, 3.5 seconds (Auto Express)
1/4 mile time, 11.7 seconds (Road & Track)

The F40 market is just crazy.

The F40's extremely high values are for different reasons than normal Ferraris'. Its value certainly does not speak to racing provenance, since it rarely turned a wheel in anger. Its value is not due to its performance, since it's slower around a track than a 360 Challenge Stradale. And it's not so relatively expensive because of its rarity, since fewer 360 Challenge Stradales were manufactured than F40s. Yet imagine a 150-mile 360 Challenge Stradale selling for $700,000!

It seems like F40 values are based on its historical significance to Ferrari rather than anything else, being the first 200mph road car, and Enzo's last Ferrari. I wonder if this means that recessions hit it harder than a normal Ferrari (since it is more of an emotional purchase than other models), and I wonder if this "historical significance" - rather than wholly objective criteria - can keep its value so high forever.

 

F40 is a supercar and CS is a track oriented 360. Comparing apples and oranges. Performance comparisons are meaningless because the cars are from vastly different eras. Seems very obvious...

 

Why would a US recession affect Ferrari prices?

The overall impact would not be as important as 20 years ago. There are bigger and better economies that are still affecting demand and pricing.



I don't see any home prices dropping over the world because of the US housing disaster. If anything, homes in Canada have risen 10% in the last 2 years. (And prices of Ferrari's too!)
