Dear Comrades, So what is wealth and how is it defined by the members of this illustrious Forum? With kind regards, 512 Tea Are
Dear Comrade TDI-PLC, I believe that it has jumped from thirty million to sixty million. Is this the figure that wealth starts do you think? Or is it much less, or very much more? With kind regards, 512 Tea Are
Is that right? WOW! - thank you for sharing. I think that wealth is a relative concept. Being born into poverty myself, every £5 is a prized possession . A friend of mine is the son of an Oligarch who earns $100k per day in interest, plus the income from his companies. I would say that regardless of the individual personal circumstances, if someone can live confortably on the interest from the interest on their capital (interest on interest), then they are truely sufficiently wealthy.
What is wealth, is probably best described as having more than can be spent. If your needs are simple, you can be wealthy on far less cash than the extravagent. "A succesful husband is one who earns more than his wife can spend. A successful wife is one who can find such a husband. Think I should venture out into the street and hunt for my wifes xmas pressie, or blow some more time on fchat, its warmer in here.
"if health was a thing that money could buy, the rich would live and the poor would die" my great uncle Albert used to say that every time we saw him. health is the greatest asset any one of us can have.
Wealth is an absolutely relative concept.. All of this kind of reminds me of the film with Eddie Murphy, "Coming to America'. When the guy is telling Eddie (playing a poor guy but actually a Prince with untold wealth) that with hard work he could be a manager in a fast food restuarant and wouldn't that be something... Eddies smile says it all.
