i certainly am in a grass is greener situation, and as micheal b states, i cant loose. we are all very fortunate enough to have these kinds of "decisions" to make. i just wanted personal experience opinions on the difference of the two. now if my garage were big enough, and i was a tad more foolish, then i would have all three!

I will try to not be Ferrari biased, even though I am :)

I don't really see that the 996 GT3 is something by which to be enamored. I think the 355 would be the car to keep for many reasons.

However, if you were talking about the 997 GT3, then we have a different story. That is quite a car, and I would give you the green light on that one.

I think the 996 and 997 GT3's are great cars and would love to add one to my stable but if I had to give up the F car to do it...I will pass.

i'm a track junkie......if i had to chose between 355 and gt3 for that purpose then the gt3 wins hands down. the car, after all, was built almost expressly for that reason. I think you can only explore/exploit the capabilities of the gt3 in that environment as it's limits are quite high. (whats the common saying ? "don't buy a gt3 unless you plan to track it")......and for me that's the decider for the street, where you must (should) drive sanely.... with the GTS topped 355 you can revel in the growls, the gear whine, the popping, the sheer music this car makes even when driven way below it's limits. granted the steering is not GT3 but it's not bad......and 2.5 yrs later, i still steal into the garage every nite to stand for a few moments and admire 2 cars in my ultimate dream car garage- the 355 and a 1973 mini 1275.

I look at the GT3 and I see a cleanly designed track car for the street that might even be somewhat practical to own. It will be a collectible car due to its low production numbers. To me it is the ultimate Porsche - and I have a 996 TT which is supposed to be the uber-996!

But, that said, one look at that rosso 355 and I am sooo hooked... :)

I don't own either brand. I will, however, seek to purchase a ferrari within two or three years. I have been a big fan of both brands for nearly 25 years. Whenever I see a porsche drive by, I say, wow, a porsche. I've seen five of those today. Whenever I see a ferrari, I say, WOW!!!!!

I personally would take a 996 GT3 or a 997 GT3 over a 355 for an every day run around. Higher quality construction and easier to run around unnoticed. Price wise a 997 Gt3 and a 360 are in the same ball park $120K or so. Do you have a car that you can drive around without all the attention. Personally I use my 996 to run around and not get noticed. The 355 or the 360 or any Ferrari just gets a lot of looks - I dont like that all the time. I would take a 430 over all of them but thats a whole different league. :)

You cant go wrong. Good luck..
