Should be announced anytime. Seems the lead is Heikki.

    Any other guesses?

I was rooting for Rosberg. He should be able to give Lewis a run for his money, but I suppose Mac has no other realistic option than putting Heikki in the car.

You forgot the most boring and most likely candidate: De la Pink

My guess is de la Rosa. Two rookies without developing experience would be worse than having the second driver constantly finish last of all top team cars. De la Rosa isn't that good, but he has experience. Kovalinen has improved over the last season (or was it the car?), but there's still a little question mark behind his real performance.

Plus it keeps the Spanish sponsers happy...but I'd rather it be HK.

I'd have to agree on PDR; keeps Spanish sponsors happy, and is a fractionally slower than LH. Makes it easy for RD.

Heikki would be too quick, and would ruffle Hamilton. It would be a debacle again over. Heikki's managerial links with Flavio wouldn't aplease RD greatly either.

    haha..LH drives both cars eh?

anyways, PDLR is just too slow, IMO, for a Mac seat.

Ron should give Scott Speed a call. You know he absolutely hates NASCAR.....I was shocked when he announced the move. Let's see if it was just the Toro Rosso, or Scott's ability and attitude. McLaren really have not much to lose....and they'd get tons of press about it... :)

I'm no McLaren fan, but even they deserve better than Scott Lackof_Speed and his foul attitude. He should be grateful that Mateschitz gave him a 2nd chance with a NASCAR ride.

I didn't say how big of a fraction, did I?

Well he is slower than LH, and on a good day, he is actually 'quick'.

There's just something about him I hugely admire, maybe it was that memorable Hungarian GP in '06?

Vitantonio Liuzzi as a possibility? I was surprised that he didn't go to Williams to be honest.

Ralfy boy is starting to seem to be a viable option for McLaren. de La Pink :D is another possibility but he looked VERY slow last year in the races after JPM left. McLaren seems to be stuck now.

Maybe Fisi? He is still a half-way decent driver (he actually won in 2006), and wouldn't mind being in a second seat role at this point in his career...

No one call me on the phone. I don't want Ron to get a busy signal when he calls to offer me the 2nd seat. Ya right! :)

Heikki is my guess but I'd love to see MS in the seat. :)

I can see why MS would be a great asset to McLaren. He seems to have an excellent knowledge of the FMP4-22007.

I'd personally like to see the seat go to Heikki.

More of a hope than a guess, but I obviously root for Heikki "I CAN spell his name" Kovalainen. Would be nice to watch a Ferrari-Mclaren duell between the Finns.

They would sooner recall JPM than stoop to bring in a has-been like Ralf..
