Car Cover Blues - Do you have this problem

It's the end of the season so I carefully tuck my baby up, put her on trickle charge, clean and wax, and finally cover up with the fit-cover. After about 4 days I get itchy feet and decide to start "jobs" on her that don't really need doing. So off comes the car cover, etc etc. I think the probelm is that these cars are so beautiful they look like they're moving when they're standing still, so we cn't help just looking and tinkering. Am I the only one with this problem?

 

My car has been tucked away and I've been making a list of things that I want to tinker with. Yup. Same problem. I hate putting the cover on. My cover is gun metal grey colored, it seems almost like putting the car in a body bag. Do you feel a little guilty putting it on? I do!

 

Yup - I sort of feel it's like putting a supermodel in a shopping bag.

 

Yeah, that is true. Shoot, I need to go take the cover off of her!!!!

 

I used to put a cover on mine but same thing...wanted to do a touch up here, a project there.
Also, as I found out, these cars NEED to be driven, or brought at least up to operating temp no matter what the weather. I figure every two weeks or so just to generate heat and let the flexible components stretch and contract to keep them pliable. I found out the hard way with my previous 328 when, after 6 weeks of sitting, I fired it up and two of the rubber fuel lines split and dumped gas all over my driveway.

yeah - drive it and pay bucks, or hide it away and pay bucks. I'm off to the garage right now...............

 

Agree with what you say about drive these things - but in the Uk right now it is 0 degrees (Centigrade that is!) - salt all over the roads and ice etc. So what to do? A tickover in the garage is a compromise but doesn't "exercise" the car.

 

Due to icy weather I haven't been able to daily drive the F355 the last 2 weeks and it really sucks. Especially when I'm used to driving it all the time and just walking past it in the morning to get into a Lexus.

Figure another 5-6 weeks before I can go back to daily driving

 

Yeah -what a pain. Good job we all have "sensible" cars though - bit like a wife and and a mistress, eh?

 

It's 29 degrees F here today in Kansas City but the streets are dry. There's a little salt dust left over, but I am getting her out today for at least 10-20 miles.

 

Had the same problem. Moved south. Problem solved!

 

I could never own an exotic like a Ferrari in a colder climate. Who could store your hot looking babe away for 4 months or more? Maybe Ferrari does need to make an SUV...

I don't use a car cover anyway. Even when I'm taking the other car, it's cool to pull in next your own black Ferrari. I just quick detail it after driving to remove the dust.

 

hey!! houtie... i used to live near a/edge..... we have the oppisite prob here to hot during day to take f car's out if you don't have a/cond ..... nite time is spot on but

 

Yeah A/Edge is fine for 3 months a year - but at least my dash doesn't warp in the heat

 

Aww it not so bad it's like someone said it is (better than the moment better than the deed the thrill of anticipation).

I believe that person was Jacque from the Simpson's and I'm sure he doesnt drive a Ferrari in cold climate like me sigh..............

anything over 25 deg in a 308 with no a/c you will be comin out like a piece of the colonels chicken ................
