Hey, BLUESTONE! Long time no see. How's your search going? Looked at a Dino yet? Driven one? Paid for a PPI? Made an offer? Mark
There is a nice GT on eBay, #05028 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130250726967&category=6212
Sorry to be a pedant, but its also true of the UK (235GTS/~498GT) which has always been a strong market for convertibles (as a deforested temperate rain forest, we treasure each day of sunshine with which we are so rarely blessed). Back on topic, the UK market is definately weakening significantly, can't speak for the US (or anywhere else). Bonhams sold a good Nick Cartwright restored car for £70k (ex premium) at the Festival of Speed (est £70-90k) and couldn't sell a car with a race history re-dressed for the road (est £60-£70k) and it's now in a dealer in the UK (£POA). Looking at the 20 odd cars that have been offered for sale this year so far, the number of £POAs has risen significantly (often a sign of uncertainty in vendors/dealers) and the auction estimates for both Coys and Bonhams winter sales are around £20k lower than the spring sales. For the first time in at least 5 years we are also seeing significant screen price mark downs (5 cars have had screen price cuts in the past 4 weeks or so) on average by £12k. A good time to buy or the start of a sharper price reversal? It's been debated ad-nauseum on here before (and apologies to those who get decidely irritated by the speculation about prices)
Kind of funny to see this thread get resurrected from the dead. The last time poser Bluestone posted on FCHAT was on 11-28-2007 at 6:48 PM. I wonder what happened to his collection plans, i.e. -- "1. Budget for year 1 is $300k to $500K and year 2 would be double that. 2. Vintage cars will be just garage queens for admiring and occassional (sic) drive in summer. Will also want a modern...." (from his post on 11-26-2007 at 10:18 PM) Maybe we haven't heard from him recently because Bluestone's daddy completed his son's toy car collection on time and on a somewhat smaller budget on Christmas eve? Mark P.S. I wonder if he posted the same crap on PorscheChat (or whatever it is).
