    Hey everyone,

I have been reading quite a few engine rebuilding threads on here, and I have noticed the main and rod bearing wear has been pretty minimal. Anyone reusing theirs, or just replacing the ones that need replacing? I have never rebuilt an engine without using new sets of both, but I have also never seen bearings that wear so little. ANy thoughts/experience?

I'm thinking about re-using them on the engine I'm doing right now.

Like you, every other engine I rebuilt I just replaced the bearings . .. especially when they were only like $40-50 for the set.

Put a bore gauge in them and see how round and on size they are. Don't forget to torque the caps down too. I'd say go new though.

    Cheers!

Why not use a plastigauge? And if the bearings are slightly worn, what's the harm of putting a new set of bearing?
Going through all that trouble to get in there I think is worth it. If it's still in spec. then just swap it for a new one.
