If any indicator lights come on after the key is put in position two and disappears after the start button is pushed and the OK light comes on, is everything OK? My F1 gear box failure light comes on sometimes but goes away after the car is started. I can't recall if it always was like that or if it started happening after I jumped the car last night.

    TIA Peter

After I put the key in position two everything lights up. And then everything disappears right away, except the e brake light and seat belt light.
Sometimes the F1 gear box light stays on and the engine check system failure light stays on until the car is started upon which Ok light comes on and all lights disappear. Could it be that the battery is too weak?

    TIA Peter

Sounds pretty normal to me. All the display lights should come on when you first put the key in the ignition. Then when you start the car they should all go away. Now if the CEL light comes back on after the car has already been running, then I would say you have a problem.

    Don't jump start your Ferrari!

Your poor alternator will heat up red hot charging a completely dead battery...so you'll wind up losing your alternator and battery (if you're lucky you won't fry other Italian circuits in the meantime).

Sheesh, people...remove the battery and charge it up, then re-install it if you are cheap...or just buy a new battery. Don't jump start your car unless it is stalled on a railroad track!

Repeatedly jump starting because of a dead battery, WILL prematurely wear your alternator. Jump starting once, or even a time or two is not going to cause it to self destruct. Trust me from my college days. ;) Jump starting is not an ideal thing, and should be avoided, but it not the cause of the end of the world....
