Nice, but not the best one. That honour must rest with s/n 4293. Never been crashed; never been restored (does not need it!) and fantastic race history (for eg, 1st in class/2nd overall at Le Mans, 1963). The very best GTO without question. In my humble opinion, of course!
despite the Concours-photo shows same livery it has a different front as in race. I think both shots show 3445 GT Anybody knows the reason? Regards, Till Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sorry if I missed something, but is Violati's GTO really for sale? http://www.finecars.cc/en/detail/car/16839/index.html?no_cache=1&tx_anamerashowroom_pi1%5Bpointer%5D=-2&tx_anamerashowroom_pi1%5BFILTER%5D%5Bmake%5D=5&tx_anamerashowroom_pi1%5BMODE%5D=make&tx_anamerashowroom_pi1%5BRET%5D=144 After 42 years of ownership at least this is remarkable. Kind regards, Wouter Holland

Disappointed to read that 3589GT now wears a replica body: Yes the original body has been saved as art work, but I reckon it should be repaired and returned to where it belongs. Nowadays I believe body work people can repair more than replace panels like they used to. Pete
I've always wondered why the restored car doesn't look as good as I'd expect it to look. Now I think I know why. Best wishes, Kare
Are there any more pix of this car "en jus", i.e. as found in the field and unrestored? THIS is the stuff of (my) dreams, not RL admiring himself in the mirror-like finish of his over-restored latest acquisition, worrying about the creases on his trousers. ;-p
Should someone be a serious buyer of a VERY good seris 1 at a very serious price pm me but pls. don't be fishing for information as you won't get it.
Here are some period pics of 3757... 1st has the legend on it, 2nd was at Le Mans in 62. The last one at Le mas du Clos much later... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I only have met 2 or 3 of the 250GTO owners but am wondering what occupations they have, i.e. if they reflect business acumen in general? I can't believe they just "lucked into" buying a GTO. Does anyone know who crafted the replacement body for 3589GT? Here's the Road & Track story by the late Innes Ireland: http://www.roadandtrack.com/special-report/innes-ireland-and-the-ferrari-250-gto
Thanks for that. Can anyone be more specific? I see from the Innes Ireland story in the link I posted above that the restoration completed around June 1990 by Frit Leirer of Sport Garage in Switzerland was with the original body so when was the new body made and fitted to the car?
I know there have been several sales this last year. Would anyone care to update the above list with better knowledge than mine? Here is what I have heard. 5575 sold by Carlos Hank Rhon to Robs Walton and now his son Ben has it. Carlos Hank Rhon bought 5095 from Jon Hunt. I've heard that 4675 changed hands but am not sure if Michael Hammer or Jean-Pierre Slavic bought it. It looks like Slavic shows a Series One in his collection, but I think 4675 was a Series Two, at least in body. Also I heard that Jose Marie Aristrain in Spain might have purchased a GTO. Updates or corrections are appreciated.
D.C., First part (of your first sentence above), is true. Second sentence is not at all true. Third paragraph: Series I GTO on Slavic's website is a replica. You might be on the right track (with your latter guess) regarding the new owner of 4675. Who is Jose Marie Aristrain?

Some of these have changed owners but all I want to know, for general info and conversation, is the general occupations of those lucky enough to own $35-50 million cars. I filled in the ones I do know...for instance, I don't see any oil barons there...I predict about 30% will be in software or computers. S/N Name Location Year 3223 F-chatter!
