I've ridden in a few. In San Diego, lots of people get them for desert use. They are a fun ride and pretty cheap, plus your not worried about ruining the "green" paint LOL.

AWESOME! I like these big German military trucks. Also look up unimog.

Drove a 710K for a little test drive (all city, no offroad:( )
    Drives like a military truck.
No power steering, so make sure to use some arm power to turn that corner. But turning circle is ridiculously tight.
    Brakes seemed fine .
    Pedals were fine.
Shifting was a bit of a PITA, an S2000 it isn't. Very loose, never really sure if you're in 2nd or 4th ...
Noisy, mostly from the geared hubs, but well under the levels I expected.
Tops around 60mph, sounded like it could cruise at 50mph all day.
Comfort is surprisingly good. Ergonomy as well. Unusual but you get used to it in a second. Super roomy in the back, but small windows. Overall pretty roomy, but it's not as small as it may appear either.
Overall it was far more usable than I expected. But I still couldn't justify shelling out more than 15k for one.
After all, I can get a Grand Cherokee WJ or Range Rover P38 under 10 grand, put 5k in mods, be 95% as good off-road and a million times better on the road.

Off-road, I've heard it's pretty tippy, always lifting a wheel and what not. Somewhat better when loaded with sandbags in the back.
    Ground clearance is huge.
    Can't beat triple lockers.
