The hidden fuse... EXPOSED!

    Well, today I took Jeff's advice and opened up the trunk liner again to see if the heater hoses were hot when the motor was hot, and to check operation of the control valve. All the above was as it should be. So, next I opened up the console to reset the ECU's... I could have just hit the battery switch, but I wanted to inspect the connectors and such. VOILA! much to my shock and awe (sarcasm), 2 wires pulled out of one of the connectors.
    The connector on the side closest to the control panel has one pin with 2 red/white wires connected to it, and both were out of the pin and hangin there with braid exposed.
    SO, I soldered the wires together and onto the pin, hit the battery cutoff, left it for 10 minutes, turned it back on and reset the car correctly... no more E8 code! I have heat again!
    I'm going to order the brass boss from Ricambi on wednesday with delivery for friday and spend part of my New Years 4-day fixing the flapper. For now I cut a peice of 1/8'' masonite sheet and stuck it in there to block the fresh air intake.

    Now THAT'S amusing!

    Ferrari - God Bless 'em! Who else has wiring that just falls apart? And fuses that just melt into their holders?

    One thing: the wiring diagram shows that the red/white wire is the power source to the heater's temperature control valve, not the power source to the heater's water pump. There is no circuit diagram for the internals of the climate control ECU, so goodness knows what triggers the E8 code, but I would have thought you would have seen an E5 code for the valve problem.
