just went to go and 'fill err up' noticed the engine warning light was on?? means either something is wrong (only just had a service and not been used for 4 weeks) or emission problem? seems a bit lumpy on idle (im guessing dodgy fuel nearing the end of the tank, and no use....) should i be worried? or is there a reset method? ta
Make sure your fuel cap is on very tight, especially if light came on after re-fuel. Most likely problem. If it is the cap that is causing the problem I think the light will go off eventually. Also worth hooking up an OBDII scanner to see what code it's pushing out, that can give you more info on whether you need to get it into a dealer quickly or not to get problem sorted. If you turn off the battery switch the light will go out but I wouldn't advise it as it is just ignoring a problem which is there somewhere, just a matter of finding exact cause. As I said though, if right after fueling most likely cap aint tight enough. I think, but I am not sure, that if it is this that is the cause it will go off after a few start and stop cycles, and a couple hundred miles of driving, but not exactly sure on that part.
dean it could be infamous cold start problems in which case you'll need new ecu. there are a few threads on here about it. tale tale sign is very rough idle with all 8 cylinders not firing up properly .
It has been discussed here several time. Use search button, put CEL as key word and you will find lots of answers and reasons....
