Great thread! A very special christmas wish to all my friends on this forum - those I debated with and argued with as well as those I tend to agree with - I enjoyed all of the discussion and commentary!

Also a special thank you to Tifosiron - we are all glad you are doing better and I don't think the 5lbs will kill ya! Also Ron, I took your advice and got tickets to Monza! They were presented this morning and they went over very well. I am planning on adding a Lamborghini and Pagani factory tour as well as a Ferrari museum tour to the mix. Many thanks for your suggestion of Monza!

I hope everyone had a good 2007 and is looking forward to a great 2008. Like you all I am especially excited for the F1 season to start and I am just dying with anticipation of a great year!

    Cheers!
    Mike

Ron was messing with you. Monza is a bore. Seriously.

There is a hotel nearby (it was featured in the Jo Siffert movie "Living dangeriously") where all the F1 drivers used to stay in the sixties and seventies. I could dig it up. THAT's worth a trip. As is the Lambo factory (never been to Pagani's).

Hopefully you're enough of a Ferrari nut to overlook Monza's shortcomings. Apparently I wasn't.

No, I wasn't messing with him! All F1 races are probably going to be a bore, at least Monza has history, and the factories are about 3 hours away.

I know you weren't messing with him. Any tifoso will consider Monza heaven. But if you can lay down the pink glasses for one moment, you realize, that the track a) is flat so you'll only see the part right in front of you (unlike Barcelona or Istanbul) and b) there is not much else to do there. There is no great city nearby (e.g. Monaco or Montreal) to go party. Milano is too industrialized to be a fun tourist destination.

Monza has the Ferrari connection, the coolest podium and the history. It is worth one trip, but I wouldn't go there for a 2nd time. Unlike e.g. Monaco, where I never get tired of (I know you think that is a bore).

Well, Monaco offers other beautiful sights too, besides F1 cars and supercars ;)

I've been to Monaco, had incredible seats. The only way I would ever go back to that boring parade is if I had one of those condos on the front straight. Give me Monza any day. At least there is some opportunity to pass.

I stayed in Lake Como, about 45 minutes away, had a great time. The hotel was a 200 year old monestary, and Diana worked there.
