In recent Autoweek, Mario stated: "Marco needs to be in F1. That's where he needs to be. He has the talent. Evaluating Marco as I has, he has that style." He went on to say, "Marco needs to step up and let people know what are his desires. I know that's where he wants to be, and I know he can do it."

    (Please, not at Honda!)

    I didn't know Marco was a whiner, too...is he?

Both Dad and Granddad are the same way. Great drivers and I respect them, but.....

My 'favorite' Mario whine is from a street race where a dead car was left on track for many laps; Mario finally hit it and complained/made the excuse that it shouldn't have been there. Well, yes, but reality makes certain demands, Mario.

    2007 stats:

17 starts. 10 DNF. Repeatedly wrecked his teammates. No wins in a weak IRL league.

Maybe Farce India would be interested.

This is the same kid who readily admitted to being scared of the speeds he has to run in his current series (joke)...sorry Mario, but your heart may be in it but his sure isn't...let him off the hook before he gets himself killed or kills someone else.

With very few exceptions the sons of former Superstars dont have the "drive ;) " to make it to the top.

I dont follow the Indy series very thoroughly, but I recall Marco doing well on road courses. I think he mentioned of being scared with side by side racing on ovals - I don't think he would have a problem with road courses.

    True ...

Alberto Ascari, Damon Hill, Colin McRae were part of the select few that did as well/better than their pops

I would love to see Marco in F1 I just hope he does not repeat his dad's journey in F1.

Kind of like famous musicians. How many times have their offspring done something significant in the music world? I think talent of the highest order tends to show up only every few generations, right JV??

He's nowhere near ready although I'd like to see him in F1 providing his talent allows. If Marco was serious about F1, he'd quit IRL and get into a quality team in the F3 Euroseries, GP2, or maybe even a lesser series in Europe. There's no secret in what stepping stones to take.

IRL used to be the way to F1 for some (Jacques Villeneuve and Juan Pablo), but what team in their right mind would want Marco other than a pay-for-drive team?
Last time he tested for Honda, he was over a second and a half off the pace of Jenson.

He won at Infineon in 2006.

Michael at least had a podium in F1 with McLaren.

 No IRL driver has ever made it to F1. Both Jacques and Juan Pablo were CART drivers.

Even as a racing fan I get the series confused too.
