Can someone point me to the thread with the guy selling aftermarket Gallardo rotors? I pushed the Gallardo a bit too much at Sebring this past weekend and warped mine.

Hmm, I guess it's possible I had some pad transfer due to how hot I got them at the track and maybe didn't let off the brakes soon enough after coming to a stop. The front pads are nearing replacement time anyway; think I should throw a new set on and bed them and see if the issue goes away?

And scuff the rotors with 3M Roloc's. It worked for me.

"Warped rotors" is really a misnomer.

I've got the car jacked up and the wheels off; I'm going to take the calipers off and remove the rotors this weekend, a friend is bringing a random orbital sander over that I'm just going to go over them quickly with some 150 grit paper. Someone else with this issue said that was all it took for him to fix it, you don't hit any area long enough to cause an issue, just to even it out and take the pad deposits off. We'll see how it goes, if unsuccessful then I'll take them to be blanchard ground.

A good driver NEVER needs brakes...

Only a gear box and the power of the motor... LOL LOL

A GOOD driver doesn't need a large motor to go fast! But, some guys may be compensating for something.... HAHAHAHA :fu: Oops, that doesn't work on fchat. :)

I got lazy and didn't get it done this weekend; if I just have mild pad deposits, why is sanding a bad idea? I would be surprised if 150 grit mildly applied would be capable of removing anything but deposits since it's much lower in hardness than the rotor.

Good point, If the rotors are worn to the point that they're too thin, there will be one heck of a ridge on the outer circumference.

The Lambo tech of 20 years has probably plied his trade at a dealership. I'm not trying to sling arrows, but most of us know what we get when we have service done at a dealer; a firm slap on our wallet, ahd a Thank You.......good bye!

I would not use any power sanding tool on the rotors, scotch brite by hand will not hurt anything.

If you really want to be sure there is no "warpage" (i.e. lateral runout) you need to use a dial indicator. Removing the rotors for this purpose is not the best, as you want to see the full lateral runout with the rotors on the car - to be totally nutty torque the wheel bolts back down with spacers to properly load up the stress on the rotor hat.

If you are going to track the car again, I highly suggest getting the Audi rotors. My G wears them and the stock rotors will never see the track, since they are somethign like $1200 a pop to replace.

Properly bedding most pads will remove old pad material, so I actually never use any abrasives on rotor surfaces, just a good wipe down with brake cleaner.

FWIW I actually track my G and track it pretty hard, so at least I have tried the above.

Finally, if you are not confident in what you are doing, you are being a bit penny wise on messing with the brakes on a car of this level of performance and value.
