Hello - I've been around this message board for a few years now - posting here and there. Although very few of you actually know me - I've been to countless C&C's and VCR's over the past 2 years. After taking close to 20k photographs, I finally got around to creating the begginings of a website. http://ravinowichphotography.zenfolio.com/ Take a look - and let me know what you think! Looking for comments and feedback - and also my first ride in a Ferrari! haha Andre UCLA MBA - Class of 2009
I like your perspective and contrast. You have a good eye. If you ever get to the Dallas area, I'll give you a ride. Bill~
My brother lives there... I'll actually be there for his wedding in May I think. Thanks for the comments!
Beautiful portfolio, Andre. As one of the few who have actually met you on this board, I can certainly vouch for your character. Even though you started out as a stalker. Keep up the good work.
Great shots, thanks for sharing. I'd be happy to give you a ride one of these Sundays. Let me know when you'll be out there and we'll try to get together.
Thanks everyone for the feedback! I still have a lot to learn about photography - but only time and practice will get me there. If any of you if F-cars or any other interesting car for that matter - ever want pictures taken - let me know - I'd love to get the practice!
Jon - thanks for the offer for a ride - hopefully we'll meet up at VCR sometime! By the way - is this your CS? Shot this one last October at VCR. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Now it is. Nice work. I especially like this picture (one of my favorite spots on earth, McWay Falls at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park): http://ravinowichphotography.zenfolio.com/p1017817179/?photo=h00F7CB4F#16239439 I also like the web design. Did you do it yourself or is it a package?
Actually - it's a readymade design... this site - zenfolio hosts your images and has pre-made site designs. Someday I hope to learn flash, etc. create a custom site. But for now - being in the middle of my MBA, I just don't have the time. Richard - I liked your site as well! Some amazing shots there!!!
Ah, I didn't notice the "zenfolio" part of the URL. Yah, I'd like to learn Flash as well. For now, I use a pre-packaged open-source gallery program called gallery2 (http://gallery.menalto.com/). My main complaint is that it tends to run a little bit slow. gallery.mblackwood.com Yours seems nice a peppy.
Hey! congratulations to both Guaruja and Blackwood! I´ve just checked out your websites and you have really nice pictures, can you share details on your cameras? I´m looking for a digital SLR, but I don´t know which model is a good intermediate equipment, not too expensive, as I´m not professional as you. thanks for sharing your pictures and congratulations!
I currently own a Canon Rebel XT - which was the entry level Canon SLR. It's now been replaced by the XTi - with some huge improvements in my opinion. Basically - it all depends on what you can spend. Personally - I think lenses are by far more important than the camera body. I mean - it's good to have a nice camera too, but the difference between a Tamron lens vs. a Canon L-series (the white ones) is just unreal! My next upgrades will be to a Canon 40D and the 28-300 f4 L-series lens. I've rented this lens before - and it just blew me away. The ALMS pictures on my site were shot w/ that lens!
Sounds like an expensive lens, but i dont think 28 would be good for car photography, I think you should wait to the 24th to find out what canon shows off, canon are showing off new products on the 24th possibley a new canon XTX 450D but probley not... Also a 17-200IS 3.5-5.6 canon lens might be coming out, that would be a great everyday lens.
17-200 from Canon would rock! I had a Tamron 18-200 - but the quality was just bad! And yes - the 28-300 I believe is about $2200... it's not good for walking around a car show - but it is perfect for taking to a race! I had that at Long Beach last year - and pretty much just kept that 1 lens on the camera all 3 days!
