I was wondering what the experiences of the GT4 owners are concerning the usefulness of aircon and/or tinted windows. With the very flat front windscreen I can imagine that tinted windows are quite helpful. Is the GT4 aircon any good? What do you prefer?
Any input will be much appreciated for my search for a nice GT4.

    Best regards, Peter

Regarding window tinting: check the laws in your area, as in most areas of the US it's illegal to tint the entire windscreen (windshield). It may also be illegal to tint the driver and passenger windows beyond a certain percentage, if at all. That being said, my experience with window tint is that it does keep the interior cooler and is great for privacy. In most cases it looks cool as well. Good luck to you!

The GT4 looks VERY cool with tinted windows. 2 owners back, my car had tint. I'd like to go back, but probablly won't. The A/C in this car is really not effective. They are HOT cars!!!! The A/C in my car on a 100deg. day is the equivalent of rolling down the windows and sticking your arm out....
Don't let this discourage you as most 308's do not have very good A/C compared to modern cars....

Thanks. So the A/C is pretty much useless?

I was thinking about the window tinting done by the factory originally. As far as I know tinted windows were an option for the series I and came as standard for the series II versions.

If it gets hot inside anyway it's a good reason to avoid an all black interior. And I find them a bit boring. I like the tan interiors.

You are correct. I have not seen any tinted windows on a series one except replacements which will give you points deducted. I took a HVAC class at my local college and got an A. I restored my AC system and it works great up to 80 degrees. I have it unhooked as I had to restore my cooling system but I intend to keep it going as long as I can. Switching from R12 makes it worse as the alternatives cool less. I can get 35 degrees coming out of my vents. I t is just the large greenhouse, poor fan motor, design etc. I only keep it going for originality sake.
