Yeah, try using that one when pulled over by a COP after a drink too many We understand the excitement and drinks were flowing ... Pete Note: I do not drink and driver or condone it ... just joking.
I'm so totally in love with this car!!!! Is it possible to have some great high res. pics of it??? Where you can see the whole car... in 3/4 or something Jim... great great work on that beauty!!!
She's snug inside a big airliner enroute to her ancestrial home. When she gets there well snap a few! 0846 and 002C are heading home for a visit!
Jim, I was poking around Flickr and found these pictures; are they 002s old Motto body? http://www.flickr.com/photos/53074154@N00/934753311/in/set-72157594243732934/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/53074154@N00/934753099/in/set-72157594243732934/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/53074154@N00/979894735/in/set-72157594243732934/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/53074154@N00/979894607/in/set-72157594243732934/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/53074154@N00/979894761/in/set-72157594243732934/
Hi Dave C. knows this car. You may want to post photo in "Old Photo" thread. I think that is 002C's old Moto body but I'm not sure if it's still with that car. Last I remember there were a few questions surrounding whatever that is. Best
It's interesting to see how much a 1000 mile run through Sicily beats these cars up. We're going through her again rebuilding the shocks (friction and hydraulic) and reforming the leaf springs. Best
First time seeing this thread, fantastic. Seeing the engine opened up is really cool to say the least. What a priviledge to own such a fabulous piece of history !
It must be interesting to drive. I remember talking to a guy that raced an old Alfa at the Historics in Mt. Tremblant. I don't recall his name or his car, but he won his class! At any rate, every time he would brake those leaf springs would raise the height of the car. I believe "different" was the word he used. Dale
Been reading some "other" forums in the last week. This whole thread is a really wonderful read! I wish I had read this before I saw it at Pebble. "Big Ups" to you, Sal and all the guys that went down this road with you Jim!
Double clutch, using the masive torque for a 2 liter....putting the car sideways....IMO the very early Ferraris are the best Ferraris...
I agree, but since I don't have as much experience with the very early cars I have to love them for a different reason, and that reason is.... I love them because of the craftsmanship put into the cars and for the fact that none of them is exactly the same... unlike nowadays... my all time fav. is the 166 series!!! Because of the differences between the different cars of the same type, even on the same car in different races / era's / events... it makes me wonder if how to make 002C correct. I mean, you can chose to make it the way it left the factory or the way it looked when Franco Cortese raced it in the Mille Miglia in April '49. Either way to me you cannot make a mistake unless you mix different looks I guess Emiel

Ok, and what are your plans for the V12. Why not drop it into one of Dick Trickle"s old Winston Cup cars. just one man's opinion tongascrew
Hi, a few pics of the shocks"rebuild would be nice and some good shots of the chassis and X bracing from the bottom. I am assuming that the X bracing may not be original?? It would be interesting to see how it is joined to the chassis tubes and connected in the middle. It was Lampredi who realised the original Colombo chassis need more bracing to combat the chassis twisting during cornering. Several different designs were tried of the X bracing especially how it was joined in the middle. thanks just one man's opinion. PS it's nice to see some folks seeng this thread for the first time.
