Are motorcycle oils compatible with auto engines? I was reading my recent J&P Cycle catalog and noted all the different type of motorcycle oils listed from brands and weights not found at your local auto parts store. I was thinking that since motorcycle engines are generally high revving-high performance like Ferrari engines, that many those type of oil would work ? http://www.jpcycles.com/search.aspx?search=motor+oils&store=All

briefly, the usual worry is auto oils have too much molybdenum and will make wet clutches slip. Much debate about this however.

Edit, I think you are asking the opposite question; motorcycle oils in cars? What's the point, they just cost a lot more!

Iv'e also heard that motorcycle oils have higher amounts of zink and other additives that can damage Cats and O2 sensors.

FYI, new motorcycles have cats and 02 sensors...plus, part of the reason I have been looking at different oil alternatives is to find a higher zinc oil for older cars such as my BB512i
