Wasn't implying any info was correct or wrong, just that in my mind I see a gap in the future line up.

    Like MBz copy

Ferrari have probaly seen that selling many, many cars has space at top for very high car for a few to!

Ferrari may have seen Lambo selling Murci for $350k and like to sell that price to

It will not be any kind of MB roof copy. Just remeber that SL weight is aproximatly CL weight level (a little bit less). But SL is two-seater and CL is GT four seater (not 2+2).
Ferrari is developing now ultra light retractable hard top roof. My dealer told me it will be next step in retractable roof technologies. Just remeber what Ferrari oficials told about weight reduction programm. Best.

There will be a place for "F142" in the market for sure. But I really doubt that price of "F142" will reach Murcie LP640 level. My dealer told me that expected price rise is about 20-25% to current F430 price range. It is high price, but still not Murcie LP640 territory. And "F149" will feature aproximatly current F430 Belinetta price level. So everything seems quite logical. Best.

Indeed, I remember seeing some time ago some US patents issued to Ferrari for some innovative retractable roof designs.

There is a small piece in autocar mag news section about the F149 this week, It doesn't add anything new about the car but does indicate that its launch will see the death of the 612. That seems logical to me as it doesn't make economic sense to continue with the 612 and 599 both with separate V12 engine configurations and relatively low volumes for each. It would also be the first indication of Ferrari moving to smaller engined models (replacing a 5.7 with a 4.3) to reduce C02 emissions.

Have read this article in Autocar too. I must say my dealer have oposite facts. Ferrari is planning makeover of the 612 model for his summer. Now factory code "121" is given to this project. From this we can suggest that possibility that there will be 612M still exists. Possible equipped with 599 GTB engine and electronics. Best.

612 will definitely survive. I think you are correct about move to 599 engine and electronics

Thanks for the news, this car sounds great in principle and I am going to very interested to see what it looks like as I would imagine the packaging is going to be interesting from a lenght point of view.

We dont need another larger Ferrari and thus I am hoping this car wont be 612 size...

Regarding to my dealer's information "F149" will be smaller that 599 GTB. And as I have mentioned most interesting fact is that you can choose if you want it as 2+2 or you want two seater with rear shelf designed same way as on 599 GTB. Best.

    Hi

Have a feeling that this is the result inventory, build, emission management. Like Porsche which uses the 911 as a 2 seater and 4 seater, Ferrari can do without a 612 and 599, both same price point cars.

If they built a V12 or V8 GT, then it can be 2+2 or 2+ luggage, same engine (detuned for one), different software and parts but universal design. However there is the center of gravity issue, but can be easily worked out with fuel tank position and shape.

Ferrari had a lot of 612 in inventory and no 599, line was full so this makes perfect sense. Also this will make Ferrari a greener company. My 2 cents.

My dealer told me that possible NO. He told me also that now only few are ordered with stick and their quantity reduces dramatically. So there will be possibility that future Ferraris will be produced only with F1 trasmission. Sad news for all stick fans. Best.

this is sad news if true. While I understand and even agree with the academic reasons why an F1 is viewed as a superior choice. I usually prefer stick shift.

    best regards,

While there is not plan for a V12 mid-engine supercar in the near future, I really hope that someday Ferrari will bring one to the market again. Personally, I still find it to be the most appealing model type.

...the Boxer, the Testarossa series...nothing better! There is just something missing with these front engine models in my opinion. I cant "get into" them the same way I do for the mid-engine beasts.
I guess time will tell all...until then, everything is just speculation (and dreams)!

That is sickening news IF true. Really. Looks like I will stick to older models by the time my first F-car comes around. Considering my desire for old cars (especially 70's and 80's Ferrari's) to begin with, that may not be such a problem.

I don't see how the cars are related? The R8 will never compete with the 430, as the F149 will not touch the SL. Merc will always have the SL as the Starbucks-mobile where as Ferrari stand a little bit above. Just my opinion, however I do believe Ferrari to be in a league of their own. Ferrari with the 149 will go for a person who wants a little bit more than the SL has to offer. Not to mention that moms pick up their children from soccer practice in a MB, where as Ferrari will always subscribe to the 'elite.' So long as the products quality does not change, neither will its clientele.

    Best,
    Jon

"F149" project is under developement, so there can be some changes done. But my dealer confirmed that Autocar's picture is the most close to reality, except few details. My dealer did not told me what details exactly. Best.

SL is for men who wear gold chains, bracelets and keep little blue pills in their wallets. 149 is for a different set...
