need advice from spider owners. I have a new spider and understand its bad to leave the top down for long periods. Its got to be a pain to pull into your garage and sit there as you put the top up knowing that the next morning you are just going to sit there and wait for it to open. So the advise I'm asking for is whether I'm going to really regret it if I don't follow the reccomended procedure and just leave it down for a week at a time during the summer?

LOL....Such problems we Ferrari owners have! So how long does this dreaded process actually take?

Your back window and canvas top may become and stay wrinkled/creased . How long it takes for that to happen , i don't know for sure .

This is a good general rule of thumb for any fabric top- you should put it up at night because it helps keep the tension on the material. Its possible if you leave it down it will get creases and also it could tear when you do eventually put it up.

    best regards,
    Jerry

Always put it up. If you don't, the canvas will crease and won't close by itself....... meaning you will have to help it close the last 1/2 inch. I have seen several tops that are permanently creased (wrinkled) by storing the top down. Its a 23 second deal. Close at night, open in the morning.

That's what the radio is for, to keep you busy while you put your top up.

I guess I won't get much sympathy when I complain to my buddies that I have to wait for my f430 top to open in the morning before I can pull out of the garage!!!

Its great to have a forum like this to get real advice from actual owners - thanks

The injustice of it all... :(

Not sure about the 430 top specifically, but when I had my P-car I was told the convertible tops with those plastic windows do need to be kept taut. And you want to make sure it's clean before you retract the top.

Here's another viewpoint. Had a Corvette convertable. ALWAYS put the top up at night. Garage was under a 2nd story bathroom. One night a toilet seal gave way, flooding not only the 2nd floor, but the garage under it too. Car was fine. Would it have been insured? My agent didn't think so.

Top always up, 23 seconds.......a lifetime eh! I have a buddy who left his roof down for a couple of days in his garage, a small bird got into the garage and crap*ed all over the interior....nice ;-/

16 seconds. Plus it keeps the interior clean and dust free overnight. I put my top up everynight and down in the morning on mine. Turns out I can wait the 16 seconds

I am an agent and yes it would have been insured but under your auto policy not the home owners
