Was there ever a F40 "Competizione"?

    BBR models is making one, and when I read that I said to myself "what"?

    As far as I know the production F40's are these:

    F40
    F40 GT
    F40 LM
    F40 GTE

    Was there a "Competizione"? And if so what exactly was it?

    I think BBR models is pulling a name out of their arse....they also are making a F40 "Spider". :)

    F40 Barchetta- not a factory original; but it does exist.

    That I know. It's yellow if I recall. I THINK the car was damaged and rebuilt that way.

    It's a term for a track modified F40. AFAIK there was never an official "Competizione" designation.

    I've seen that term used to refer to the Monte Shell car.

    I've seen the term used before as well. But as 360C said, it seems to just be a generic term.


    What is this "Monte Shell car"?

    Can't be the "real" name. There never was an official F40 "Competizione".

    From my research it is a "regular" F40 converted to racing spec. He probably just decided to call it that, as do others.

    The catalog for Gooding's January 2006 Palm Beach auction described the Monte Shell car as a "1989 Ferrari F40 GT Berlinetta." S/N 80742 was converted to "F40 GT specifications" by Michelotto in 1991-92, one of five F40s undergoing such conversion. Marco Brand and his Jolly Club F40GT won 8 of 9 rounds of the 1993 Italian GT Championship. 760BHP!

    The word "competizione" is not used in the catalog description.

    My notes indicate the car was a no sale at $450k, just under the reserve. Wish I had bought it!

    go to the ferrari site.. and you can read ferrari f40 competizione like an official car.. for official car i mean the car used for race.. ok? :D

    They say "competizione" simply to refer to "racing" F40's.
