I don't have a problem with it... it's a recreation done on a 308 - and done fairly well (except the interior- which looks to be more suited to track use). That said, it'd be a pretty fun track car I bet.
I like it it, could use some more authentic-looking wheels though. At least it has the performance to back it up instead of simply being a 308 re-body.

An interesting car. Too bad it wasn't lengthened to equal the dimensions of the real 288. That would make it much more attractive (and saleable). As a rebodied car with some performance upgrades it is really nothing more than a glorified 308. Not sure it's worth $90k IMO.
I imagine that if it were lengthened, it would cost much more than $90k. Remember that it's now producing 650HP. It's a rocket - more than a glorified 308 in my opinion.
I don't have a problem with recreations - I have one of a Cobra. My Cobra is based on a TVR spaceframe racecar chassis and uses a TVR 5 litre engine. Dynamic balance is perfect thanks to TVR not me. I used the best TVR components with serious engineering behind them like Penske suspension. The body is basically a decoration. I am not so impressed with this GTO recreation. Putting the engine in longitudinally with a Porsche transmission in a 308 wheelbase would require a degree of engineering that I suspect is a stretch for a one-off with that much horsepower. I definitely would not trust my life to a car like that at any kind of demanding speed. Car looks like a Discovery Real Time project to me. Fine for the street - but who builds a street car to be uncomfortable with no windows or A/C? Car looks like it was built for the track but to do what? Beat up other 308's gassing out of the corners?
DM18 - it's not a one-off although there are not many built like this. It was built by arguably one of the best known builders of these types of cars, Jim Carpenter. The GTO body or frame is not longer than a 308, only the wheelbase. Changing it would have been easy since this car already has custom tubular A-arms, altered A-arms would give the 110 mm wheelbase stretch without altering the frame or pickup points, only the top shock mounting needs to move. If it was easy it should have been done to give it a more authentic appearance. Personally ... it would have interested me alot more if it had the correct measurments. As it is it's simply not impressive to me. I think of it as a modified 308 with a body kit. Just my personal opinion.
