This is my first Ferrari 82 308 GTBI, I am picking it up this weekend so I have no clue what is really in the owners manual Im in search of factory service manuals.
Ok what im in need of is some clarification on these manuals as far as what I need so I can complete work on my car just like they have at the authorized ferrari service shops.

I have yet to get on the ferrari owners group website ill do that when I complete all the paper work for the Car.

So whats my best bet for manuals? I have searched and found CDs on the net and some websites that you can download the manuals but it seems to be restricted to the 70,s carbed 308s and 83 and up QV cars.
not much for the 80-82 Fuel Injected cars

    Any help is appreciated

There isn't much technical literature specifically intended for the 2-valve injected 308. What you should have IMO:

    1. The OM for your exact year/model/version (which includes the wiring diagram) -- available in electronic form from the Owners Site, or in hardcopy from places like www.ferraribooks.com, www.ferrariliterature.com, etc. (OM print number 216/81 if your 1982 308GTBi is a US version).

    2. The SPC for your exact year/model/version -- same availability as #1 (except the revised Owners Site isn't working properly yet, and should be available at www.ricambiamerica.com sometime -- unfortunately, www.eurospares.co.uk doesn't have the US version SPC for the 308QV or earlier 308 models).

    3. The 308GT4 WSM.

    4. This one I'm not so sure on, but since the K-Jetronic without Lambda injection system was introduced first on the Mondial8, there should be some Mondial technical publication covering K-Jet without Lambda. Alternatively, there are two good reference books on Bosch CIS -- one by Aird (more basic and a good introduction so as not to get overwhelmed) and one by Probst (more advanced, but more daunting) -- should be available from Amazon.

    Welcome and enjoy your 308!

There are several sites that have manuals, no need to buy a cd.
Here is one of my favorites

    http://www.ferraridatabase.com/The_Downloads/Downloads.htm

The worst problem for us FI 2 valve 308 owners is a shop manual that covers our 308's. Apparently Ferrari did not publish one. The closest is the one for the FI 2 valve Mondial and your owners manual.
I use a 78 308 and a Quadra Valve shop manuals. and the 81/82 parts manual and previous years since my 81 does not match my 81 parts book.

Great info here, I'll add the Bosch tech books are a good idea as well, not cheap though. also get your hands on the WSM for the mondials as that covers in the most detail the 308/328 engines. I can burn a copy for you if needed.

I visited Kroymans' service department in Holland asking about a repair manual for my '82 Mondial and they pulled theirs off the shelf while giving me the address to the copy shop down the street. Of course, that wouldn't have happened if I didn't have that pretty little Dutch wife with me at the time ;) They didn't want any payment so, since it was a Friday afternoon, we picked up a case of cold Heinekens for the crew (the good local stuff, not any of that green bottle crap).

I'll dig out the manual and can burn/scan the engine specific section. PM me your email if you need it.

Don't forget to download and print the parts manual. I personally find that more helpful most of the time than the repair manual, as it shows the exploded view of all of the assemblies and how they go together. And if you plan on doing any cam timing, and degreeing the cams, be sure that you have the correct specs for the cams that are actually in your car. Don't ask how I learned that lesson. LOL

Don't waste you $ on the CD's especially the junk on e-bay . I bought a great paper manual for my Mondial QV from Maranello Literature . No such luck for my 328 yet .

I do all maintenance and major work on my 328. If you need to know how to do something, just come to the forums. :) Seriously, there isn't much of anything that you will need to do that someone won't help you with here.

i have an 81 gtsi and i think the parts manual is probably the most useful manual. there are an amazing number of threads in this forum that will take you by the hand (with pictures) of virtually any project you want to tackle. ignore some of the bull**** particularly opinions without data. it will take very little time to find out who knows how cars work and how to repair them. you'll notice that the same names turn up often on the how to threads - these guys are excellent. i've redone my clutch, suspension bushings, steering rack, water pump and window drives soley on the info in the forums and would have had a lot of trouble otherwise. regards, jon s
