FYI ...on the movie rentals. If you adjust your date/time settings on your computer to a previous date, then you can keep the movies longer. Sometimes a day or two just isn't enough time to watch a movie. 0= ) I'm a nerd what can I say. lol
Yeah if they priced it at $800 they'd sell more. As the owner of a portable that doesn't have a built-in CD drive, I guarantee you that life without a CD drive SUCKS. Sure you can buy a usb drive, but that one time you leave it at home is when you'll really need it...
I don't really see the battery as being that big of an issue. In my experience, around the time that the battery starts dying is when I start to think about replacing my laptop anyway. Also, I almost never use the DVD drive on my Macbook. The one thing that I am excited about seeing in action is the solid-state hard-drive on the $3000 Macbook Air.
In all honesty i don't see the point. I mean are you really going to need to save 3/4 of an inch of thickness over a macbook to get it in your bag??
I saw hand made cases that look like those, are lined with vinyl and have fluffy fleece on the inside for about $30 lol red string extra $10 though jk =P
Despite early concerns that the MacBook Air battery is unaccessible to end users, Appleinsider claims that there are no special tools or knowledge required to swap out the MacBook Air's battery. A standard size-0 type philips is all that's required to open the MacBook Air. The replacement process is described: Once flipped upside down, the MacBook Air's bottom cover is easily unscrewed and removed, providing immediate access to the battery cavity. From there, the battery can be unscrewed from the chassis with the same screwdriver and unplugged from the circuit board with a simple tug -- it's not soldered to the board. Given the history of iPod battery replacements, there was some concern that users would be unable to easily replace the MacBook Air battery. Apple has said that a $129 replacement will be available but will require the MacBook Air to be sent in from Apple. If the battery replacement is this easy, however, 3rd party batteries will certainly also be available. (from Mac Rumors)
