From owners and enthusiasts alike, what should Ferrari do with the V12 engine?

  1. Ferrari should keep the V12 as its crown jewel, not to mention the engines lineage…

  2. Ferrari should do away with it. Its time to update and get down to more eco-friendly engines!

  3. Why not just kill two birds with one stone and make the V12 more eco-friendly?

  4. Ferrari will always be the best of the best no matter what engines they use.

If every Ferrari still running were to be taken off the roads there would be no measurable effect on air quality. Now if you shut down all of the Chinese and Indian vehicles that have far lower standards of Smog equipment than US and Euro cars we'd all breathe much easier

"Eco friendly" you mean like it plants trees as it proceeds along? If you mean it produces less C02 that has nothing to do with the environment. Who wouldn't like a car that gets better mileage with equal performance. Throw away the govenment mandates and let Ferrari build lightweight cars with lower displacements for those who choose to buy them. Sure wish we could get some of that global warming this winter in Colorado. Looks like a record cold winter in the making.

Any engine can be more fuel efficient, even a 12 cylinder. It has more to do with air-fuel ratios, flame front speeds, combustion efficiency, etc. than simply the number of cylinders. With the advent of all of the electronic combustion controls and variable valve timing, I would imagine Ferrari could beat this without too much trouble. It's just another engine setup on the chip. Hit a button on the dash and you get fuel economy, hit the sport button, and off you go on a spirited drive.

I think it's great that there was the "kill two birds with one stone" option. Ferrari could definately make their V12s more fuel efficient while maintaining their power. With all the extra money they'll have from the F1 spending cap they should easily be able to make their whole line of engines fuel efficient.
