Nah... that is for hauling the luggage when he drives on a vacation. He'll just tie it to the back deck of the 328.

Nice car! The British cars are generally more socially acceptable than the Italian machinery. They seem to have a happy disposition. Looks like it is in perfect condition. Maybe one day these small cars will become the norm, and I won't fear for my life at the mercy of a Dodge Ram 2500 duelly.....

    Haha, that's the truth.

They're really cool cars, like many 70's ROW cars, I'm sure rust is a huge concern (or how much rust.) Is that a 998cc of 1275cc? Leyland, Austin, Morris, or Mini Cooper? Looks like a cool piece though.

It's titled as a 72 Leyland (for import purposes), just came in from Germany. It was actually produced around '94, so it's truly a Rover Mini. Has the 1275 fuel inj engine. I think I'm pushing about 60HP, if that. After doing some km conversion, I averaged about 33mpg on the trip from Jacksonville, but with only a 7.4 gallon tank, I had to stop a few times for fuel. She did fine on I95 with 75mph easily hit. At that speed, I was at about 4200rpm with redline not until around 6500. It's a 4 speed.

I did tire of the highway, and bailed out around Hilton Head Island for the evening. Then I took backroads over to Hwy 321 for a fun drive up to Columbia through some quaint small towns like Denmark, Norway, and North. From there it was all Interstate with no problems.

The car has the usual old Mini issues like some rust here and there, but nothing major. Overall, it's in the best condition of quite a few that I've looked at recently. The paint and everything is for the most part, original.

It's a fun car that I'll enjoy for a while and possibly "flip" later.
I can park it underneath my Jeep in the garage!!!

Yep, I might have a shield or two laying around in the garage somewhere.

I've already ordered a challenge grill.

My wife will be very jealous, as she's wanted a vintage Mini for the past few years. We saw a very nice one for sale at VIR this past summer and if she had had the spare $10K at the time I know she would have brought it home! We both drive '06 Minis, but the plan is to one day pickup one as nice as the one you've found. Congrats and enjoy the ride! :D

That my friend is plain and simple, BEAUTIFUL! Work of art. Stunning Cooper. I can't see anyone not falling in love with an old original Mini Cooper. I thought they were all right hand drive though?

    Very cool addition Brian!

If I've heard it once, I've heard it numerous times with these cars... It's not a question of if it's got rust, it's how much rust it's got! Old school production techniques burdened these cars, unfortunately.

What'd you think of the handling characteristics? Talk about torquesteer!

Mine was manufactured for the German market, so it's left hand drive.
