Sad to hear---I thought he was a great actor--Loved him in A Knight's tale!!

 

I do not mean to be non-emotional but ho hum another actor(ess) check's out by, pick one, drugs, booze, car crash, drowning, suicide. The press glorifies these people and the reality is some of them have some severe psychological problems that are covered up by, pick one, the studios, agents, family. It is sad that another young life is gone, but instead of the industry using them and then disgarding them, shouldn't they have an obligation to help them? Rather than just trying to 'Hoe them out?'

 

20 years ago, 'pneumonia' was the cover word for aids....
No, I'm not saying he had it, but 'pneumonia' is a pseudonym for almost anything, a catch-all, if you will...


So, we lose a good actor, and we still have these three slut-*****es in Hollywood still getting ALL the press, what's wrong with this picture ???

 

correct and I cannot believe how people get upset when someone wastes themselves............how about being upset over the fact that a child dies in Africa every 3 seconds and we sit and pontificate on a celebrity

Don't be ridiculous! A person dies every minute from the war in the Congo but I bet you can't name a single one of them who was Oscar nominated for playing a gay cowboy.

 

I was at a funeral today of a young lady, I introduced the couple 8 years ago and they got married a few later. She died on Friday. At the end of the day whether famous or not, praised or hated we are each someone's son/daughter, father/mother, or friend. To some of you, I would hope that people do not talk about you as you talking today. Everyone's life if precious regardless of how they choose to live it.

 

I hear ya. I'm young, and started "working" in the industry a few years ago. I say "work", because a lot of it was none paid at the beginning. (you know how it is). Especially up here in Toronto. *Hijack
One movie I woke up at 430am to get to set, and got home at 430am, the next day. The whole day was on a cold, wet farm, late October, with an action scene scheduled to take place in a barn in the farm. Being a wet, muddy farm, about 24 cars got stuck, so a lot of the day was spent pushing said cars out of the mud. That's a lot of energy. After that, setting up the lights and gear. Finally, having the climatic action scene being shot in below zero Celcius weather at night, with sleet and freezing rain outside, with heavy winds. The wrapout was dreadful, my eyes were burning and I wanted to cry. I have to pat myself on the back for staying on the shoot, I smarter man would have left with his health and dignity.

 

First off...RIP Heath.

Second: After reading all of your posts regarding the sweatshop like hours of working in the film industry, my 35 hour-per-week job seems like absolute heaven.

 

Working on crew in the heavy labor bit of set building, rigging, etc, it is like working retail during the Christmas rush every day with double shifts and no time off for weeks on end. Not to mention, they tell you when to eat, you have very little say in the matter. Actors at least have trailers, there were gigs where I slept on concrete studio floors cat napping for an hour here or there because there was little time to rest. I wonder why I want to go back to steadicam after all I know lol

 

Heard it earlier today when I was driving to a meeting. What a shame. I really think he did a great job in Lords of Dogtown.

And we were joking about Lindsey Lohan seeing someone at the morgue that she knows................

I PA and grip at the same time, on independent films. So I am lugging heavy lights around on a stuffy, hot set, then I get called to run around to get such and such equipment. I'm surprised I haven't gotten into a crash yet.

On another note, I have spent a lot of time driving actors around, and seeing them work. Some are very nice people, but they are different from us, fundamentally. it's as if they crave approval from EVERYONE. Even the nobody, production assistant driver.

 

I read that like 3 times, and all I have to say is WELL SAID! I cannot even give a good reply to that.

Of course I am saddened by his family's loss. When my wife's uncle died because he had been drinking himself to death, I was sad for them. I am even sad for the decent folks who happen to be the family of a drug dealer or gang member, when that dealer or gang banger gets killed.

I am also angered. If, and please remember I am speculating here, but if he died as the result of a drug habit, or by suicide, I am also angered. I am angered because what he has done, if this is indeed the cause, is extremely selfish. I was angered by the death of my wife's college roommate when she threw herself off of the Golden Gate Bridge last year. In her decision to commit suicide, she thought of no one but herself.

Further, I am confused. I am confused because there is so much left to do in life, and I will never accomplish all I wish to do before my natural time is up, even if my neurologist was right and my generation will make it to 120 years old. I believe it was John Muir who said, "Most people are on the world, not in it."

I also feel sad for the person. They have chosen poorly, as the knight in Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade said. I also feel sad for the murderer who must npw spend his life behind bars; sad that he could not see what is out there to accomplish; sad that he has sold his life so cheaply.

And lastly, I am perplexed. Perplexed that we cannot, or worse, will not, condemn the actions of these people as wrong, when they are wrong. If, and again I use the word "if" he died as the result of drug use, or suicide, then what happened was patently wrong, and yet we will instead glorify him.

Maybe we're the sad ones?

hell yeah, i am envious of that lifestyle, you numbnut. to have that money and priveledge. my reference was to people that actually make a difference in this world, not some overindulged numbskull that offs himself, accident or not.
of course we would all love to live carefree, not to having to worry about money. this kid had it and pissed it away, and left a daughter to grow up without her dad, its just stupid and sad for his daughter.

Great actor, I enjoyed all his movies.


I don't understand, many websites say that he was found sleeping naked in bed, and he couldn't be revived. How can you be sleeping if you are dead?

Or was he just found dead? It seems every website has a different take on the situation. Terrible anyhow....

I've got TV on Headline News - "Back to our Top Story" she says, as more on this speculative crap drones on and on and on.

HOW IN THE ****ING **** IS THIS THE ****ING TOP ****ING STORY?

 

Man this is a tough board. It is sounding more and more like an accidental death, yet the majority here want to bring up what an easy life he had since he was a successful actor. This was a guy who routinely turned down movie roles and easy money to instead do films that he thought were more important(and for most likely a lot less money).

 

Depression can be as deadly as cancer.

Very sad to live a life that depressed (often shown with self medication of drugs or alcohol), very sad to leave a young family.

 

RIP.

I'm not sure why some think that actors have an easy life? Going months at a time with very little sleep, being chased by crazies with cameras, other lowlifes who feel it's they prerogative to ask for autographs while these people are eating dinner, etc, etc.

It's easy to say "I could handle that," looking from the outside. I don't see it being that easy to deal with every single day.

 

Agree 100%.

People think money, drugs and women are worth all of the pain involved with being an actor. When people won't leave you alone, chasing you, asking for money, time, interviews....etc. It can get tough on a persons mind.

Being a celebrity is like living in a very slow, but exciting death sentence.
