Just was browsing eBay and called on this car. 2006 BMW M5 in Black with Black Interior and 8,180 Miles. $799/Month with $3500 Down for 24 Months. Talk about a steal! I would love to get this but I do not need it till next year. Someone please take this so I do not feel so bad.

    steal?
$3500 cap deduction on 24 months term, works out to be about $157 per month.
so this deal means $956 per month zero down.
$956/mo is the typical lease payment of a car values at ~$70k.
    i don't even think a '06 M5 is worth 70k today.
so i would say thats not a steal at all.

    I don't think a brand new M5 stuffed with $100s is worth $70k.

Save it for a GTR. :)

70k is about market value for a dealer, the car is worth maybe 6k less but thats the usual markup on these cars

can't go wrong with an M5 in my opinion, I would take it

M6 much better looking and more fun to drive IMO. True not a 4 door though. I would prefer a Quattroporte over a M5 anyday. Just my opinion

Best advice ever given. The GTR is definitely something special. You can daily drive it and then go to the track and beat the pants off of almost anything.

I think the RS4 is a much more fun car than the M5. The new M5 is a soulless beast. Comfortable, yes, but a rather lifeless outing.

If you like to throttle steer, the M6 is for you!

    :)

Is the RS4 a lot smaller of a car?

RS4 is based off of the entry level, compact A4. The M5 is obviously based off of the mid-size sedan 5 series.

But in terms of weight, they both about exactly the same...one is just more compact.

(Nitpickers will point out that the RS4 weighs like 100 lbs less)

Actually, I believe the new CTS-V will be around 400 lbs heavier than the M5.

Ah Emil you love stirring the proverbial pot....LOL
While I agree that from a styling point of view the E60 M5 is not my cup of tea...to say it is souless???....nah just Cold Teutonic Steel..LOL
I suggest that those who have never driven one for any length of time give it a go....I will say this that the shifting during normal driving about town is very harsh...car is more at home at hwy speeds from that view.
A Comparo to a Nissan GTR is just silly...so I wont even address that....North & South Pole.
As far as a QP....I will ALWAYS give styling to the Italians over ALL comers....BUT from a driving viewpoint???..you go get your QP and an E60 will ***** slap it in any driving venue...
As far as an RS4...now it gets a wee bit tougher....gotta love a car that you can drive all year...and still have a silly grin on your face....it is however considerably smaller....RS4 is more in line with the prior gen. M5 the E39...and as much as it pains me....stock for stock an RS4 is the way to go.
As an aside...yeah GPNY is ALOT of Fun...I can see I will be in Mt.Kisco alot...LOL
    Regards
    S

Yeah, there's a lot of BMW "experts" here on the Ferrari board. :) I'll take BMW advice from you... and a few other people like Ring, DM914, Salkowsky... But as long as we're on a Ferrari board talking about BMW's I get to complain about how much I hate them lately.

It's not far off but i've seen some in the mid 60k range. Honestly 60k for that car is a damn nice deal if you ask me. But you're correct I wouldn't call this dealer advertisment anything special.

Just to put this to bed....one reason that E60 M5's get slammed a bit in value used...is that they are not and can not be CPO'd by BMW....go ahead and look ...LOL
    You will not find a Certified Pre-Owned E60 M5....why you ask.....??...Tranny Issues.
