I have had my Stebro exhaust for about 13 months and it has had an odd rattle/vibration for about 12 months now:(. I finally tracked it down to cracked brackets holding the tips together on both sides. Would it be a sufficient repair to just have these cracks welded up? I sent an email to Dan P at Stebro to see if they can provide assistance also. We'll see if he responds. Thanks.

I heard from Dan P. at Stebro and they will pay for a local shop to weld this up for me.

Those guys are great, they did everything they could to help me out also when I bought my muffler from them. They even installed it for me!

Hey Mike, how did you make out with this?

Did Dan from Stebro pay for the weld?

Thanks for the post mine has that funny rattle also I'll have to take a look. I had mine ceramic coated so I probably won't want to weld but maybe I'll try some epoxy. I have had some pretty incredible success with epoxies before.

I guess if it was a refund you were no longer a "customer" so why provide you with service. FWIW the posts on this board and one conversation with Stebro were the reasons I never bought a muffler from them. Then when x-ost came out and they are only a few dollars more with the build and sound quality of Tubi it amazes me Stebro is still in business.

You know, i'm bringing it up cause when i got mine last March i had a issue with the tips. He promised the same thing. Get them taken care of and i'll (Dan) pay for the repairs.

Well, i did take care of it. Sent him 3 emails and i'm still waiting for a check.:(

Check out the pictures. And no this did not happen during shipping. Stebro wraps them up very good. No complaints there.

Like I said I don't see how they are still in business when x-ost maranello is so close to their price and looks so much better

I had something similar that I'm pretty did happen during shipping... the carrier probably dropped it, and that's enough to dent or cause an out-of-round condition on the tip. I never bothered contacting Stebro about it... what I did was get a tail pipe expander from Harbor Freight Tools... worked great, quick and cheap fix. Getting it fixed was important to me because I *do* take out the tip inserts for certain events such as track days.

FYI there is a product much better than J-B called Devcon. They make a steel epoxy that is 80% steel and they make an aluminum epoxy that is 90% aluminum. I have used these to make repairs to transmission cases.

    hi all

i have agreed a price with Dan at stebro for a full system ( manifolds, high flow cats and back box ) for my 355.
there seems to be no-one here in the uk that has this system, and i am looking for as much advice as possible from anyone whom has fitted this system.
it seems as though quite a few of you have bad impressions of stebro, but i am hoping that there are happy people out there also.
i would really like opinions on how the system sounds, how it fitted, things that have went wrong, and certainly more info on this possible heat issue from the manifolds causing problems.
over here, there is the snobbery of tubi and capristo, but i fancied something different; however, i don't want a pile of problems either!
i look forward to some input....

Mine fit fine, looks fine and sounds great. The only problem I had was mine showed up with no inserts at all. None in the pipes, none in the package, just none period. I contacted them and they did eventually send me one set but it took me sending a pretty nasty e-mail for it to happen.

I haven't heard anything bad about the sound, build quality or anything else except the customer service. When I bought mine I don't think X-ost was around yet, at least I hadn't heard about them, and I liked the idea of the removeable inserts. Now that I've driven it though the inserts have been removed and probably won't go back in.

Edit: it should also be noted that there USED to be a huge price difference between Stebro and any competition but now that they have raised their prices it's not as good a deal!

make sure the headers have heat shielding on them. Robbie can tell you more relating to the 355 but I know some guys who installed aftermarket headers on 355's had issues with the heat frying the alternator. If other companies didn't get it right I wouldn't think Stebro got it right

I brought two systems from Stebro and had no problems with either one, fit or delivery. Also I purchased extra inserts because one fell out after I cleaned it because I did not tighten the screw and Dan took care of me promptly. Recently I need an invoice for my insurance company and Dan sent it to me with no problem within 1 day and I brought the system over a year ago. It was not the $5.00 I saved. The only system I found that you can change the exhaust to four different sounds.

The system fit fine on my 308QV single-cat (same as a 328)... bolted right up, properly centered. I *love* the sound, and what STEBRO brings to the table that the other brands don't is TUNEABLE TIPS... the inserts are removeable. You can run with standard tip inserts (sounds like a Tubi but slightly deeper/throatier), all short inserts (nicely louder, which is the way I run most of the time), or NO inserts (VERY LOUD) which is what I do for track days.

That being said, there certainly are folks with problems with STEBRO... just pay with a credit card and you can always get the credit card company to go to bat for you... it's standard practice.

ALSO, Stebro gives Ferrari Club members a 10% discount, but you have to ask Dan for it.

I run mine without the tip inserts on my Euro 308QV! Sounds just right to me and it always gets attention at car shows. For any drive longer than an hour or so, the inserts are needed to avoid hearing loss! The 10% discount is great but their current prices are absolutely nuts. I bought mine new from them direct on EBay for $900. Considering the marginal build and finish quality, I would not pay more than this especially when an XOST or Tubi are not that much more and much better build quality. My opinion, of course.

Just had a new Stebro exhaust installed on my 1985 308 QV USA . I have a High performance Exhaust shop next to my office and they installed it.( They do not do 308s) The pipe from the muffler to the Cat was 3/4" to short and I called Dan. He couldn't have been nicer. I had him talk to the shop owner and we emailed him some pics. He was very sorry and paid the extra charge to add 3/4 " to the pipe so it would line up withe Cat. Well, I thought the sound was good before and now it is outstanding. its like being 5'5 and going to 6'8. I just love the sound. . So far I have no complaints and Dan never waivered. He has a satisfied customer here so far.I do not know anything about changing the tips to get a different sound though
