I have just got home and the right hand headlamp on my 355 will not go down, I have used the manual knob to wind it down and it pops up when the lights are turned on and works ok but will not go back down... I have again used the manual winder and tried again and the result is the same the drivers (UK car) pop up but will not go down.

Any ideas! I have tried to locate the relay but have no idea where it may be, so any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Dean

The relay is located under the passenger side footplate. See your owners manual. You can swap the left and right headlight relays to see if the problem is with the relay

If it's the same as a 348, the fuses and relays for the headlights are in the fuse panel in the front trunk, not in the footwell. There is a diagram on the underside of the cover plate that identifies the functions of the relays and fuses.

I have looked under both of the covers in the front and can not see anything that looks like a fuse panel, is it located on the left or right? Appreciate your help thanks...

    Dean,
Left side of trunk (at least on LH drive cars). Remove two knobs for cover, then you will see another black fiberglass cover held by two more thumb screws. Remove those, and the cover, and you will have to now remove a vinyl cover. Underneath you will find the fuses and relays. The diagram is on the underside of the black fiberglass cover.

Oops. my bad. The relays for the headlight motors are indeed in the left side fusebox. You can check your owners manual for the application, as well as the sticker on the cover.

Appreciate all of you help! I have found the fuse and relay panel and have switched the relays and the problem is the same, if I wind the light a 3rd down and then switch them on the light goes down and then back up and stays up.

Is there any info on removal of the light just to check all the connections or can this be done vis the batter compartment? A thread that covers this would be excel...
