I think Spiders are beautiful, especially top down. But I've always been leery of spiders without rollbars, and a rollbar on a 355 would hurt the looks. Rollovers can happen in an accident or on track, and I don't want to wear a helmet all the time ;)! Some may not be concerned with that possibility. I decided a GTS is best of both worlds, and since the 348GTS was so much plentiful and cheaper than a 355GTS, I decided to go for a 348. Best of luck with your purchase!

I have owned both, 355F1 Berlinetta and F355 Spider. There are the looks to consider, I think the GTB is a nicer looking car, really there is not much in it as they are both very hot cars, but if I had to choose, the GTB has the extra window lines that improve the look a fraction. Then there is the driving experience, after the first 4 weeks of owning the GTB I was used to it, every now and then I would be driving along and I would remember I was in a Ferrari, or the other way of looking at that is I would forget I was in a Ferrari. As strange as that sounds, it is true, and I am not one to forget things like this! On the other hand, every time I take the Spider out it is an event, it feels like an event and I remember every trip I have made so far, that to me is the Ferrari experience. Some of the reason why it feels more of an event might be the top down aftermarket exhaust factor, but it is hard to define the reason.

Also I should add, that as far as the GTB being more rigid, yes, that is true, but both cars are very well balanced and drive very well through the twisty stuff, if it was going to be a track car, then for more reasons than rigidity the GTB would be the car, but for a fun toy that might get pushed around a track from time to time, ether will provide the smile factor.

No matter what you decide, you are looking at buying a great car, both are great cars.

O.K. here is my 2 cents on the matter:
I probably live about 20 min. from you, so we know what the weather can be like this time of year. When I was looking for my 355, I only looked for a gtb for the simple reason of being able to drive it more often in the cold weather. If I get up on a weekend morning, and it's sunny out but cold, I can still enjoy a nice winter drive. Don't get me wrong, the spiders and gts are really nice cars, but my thought process was "if I'm buying, I'm driving." When you find your ride, pm me, I hook up with a bunch of guys in the tri state tread and we go on some sweet runs....we always welcome another F-chatter!

Alright, I have your solution.......make sure your OTHER car is a convertable. I suffered through the same thing for years, now that my daily driver is a convertible, I'm free to buy the DRIVER's version of my fun car.......right now the combo is a Camaro convertible paired with a 996TT coupe, when I decide to go Italian, I'll pick up a used Jeep, Mustang, M3, etc. for a daily convert.

The line of F355 is best within the GTB & GTS. As for collectibility seeks! I will put my $$$ in those two, just because I adore my bedroom poster when I was still dreaming about it :)

Don't know how many sets were polished. I do know that I got the last set in the country after I ruined my first set. They are rather unique and look great to me. Works well with the argento.

Man, I have been giving them some thought. Saw some on another argento 355 at my buddy's shop and really liked the look. Maybe now is the time to buy myself another gift:) Somehow the yellow looks odd and the clear lense goes well with the silver. Thanks for helping me remember. Let's see, does Ricambi have them?
