Just got back from meeting a few friends, we were all whining about the demise of the ICF. Any chance somebody will pick up the mantel? Can't understand why the event was canceled after the momentum it was building and it's apparent success. Now there's nothing close in this section of the country for enthusiasts to gather. Such a shame. Somebody needs to turn it into a FOR PROFIT venture and continue.

Personally I think it would be VERY successful. There are allot of cars just in Texas, not to mention the surrounding states. I would love to see it happen.

Their current direction is not to sell or loan the name out for other events, they built the name up and don’t want the risk of anything otherwise.

"Can't understand why the event was canceled after the momentum it was building and it's apparent success."

The truth is, the majority of the work for all five years was done by a very small group of people, and I think they had reached burn-out. In addition, potential sponsors were getting fewer and less willing to spend large sums for the advertising benefits.

    Wait...you mean no ICF 2008? :(

Well, I guess there's always the Concorso in the summer sponsored by Lamborghini Dallas.

...and White Rock British Car Day, Cooper Center, and our annual Boardwalk Ferrari show.

ICF was the closest thing we had to a high end Italian show in this region. :(

The Lamborghini Track and Concorso is a biannual event, occurring twice a year. :) You do know that Houston held the most recent one for the first time instead of Dallas, right? I wonder who will be holding the April meeting this time. Both were excellent events, and worth the trip up.

The Ferrari festival in Houston is also a good event. It's by far the best Ferrari show that I have attended to date. I haven’t seen a higher turnout of Ferraris anywhere else personally. I saw nearly 50 Ferraris that day. So the Boardwalk Ferrari show must be something like the "Ferrari Festival" of Plano? How many cars usually make it out? (Photo credit-PaulC)

Well, ICF this year had over 100 Italian cars I believe, so I would say that beats 50. :D

I really hope that another big annual show happens in Dallas now that ICF is no more. :(

Well it is only at my house, but I will have the mid-summer pool party in Aledo again this year. We had a good turn out of cars last year, more this year. Mark your calender, first weekend in August.

Very cool, I didn't know anything about it. Who organized the event, was it the FCA?

The Boardwalk show gets 40-50 entrants between all makes. Typically at least that many in the parking lots that don't enter.

Oh yeah. Well, those will help ease the pain. :O
I know Houston held one, except I'm up in Dallas, and can't make it to Houston. I will be down there during Spring Break though if anything is planned.

Well, Franco is the FCA of Louisiana!

But it was promoted along with the Mall where his shop is located, Highland Village, so they pick up restaurant participation on the catering and the Italian Consolate got involved.....

The FCA was the mailing list but they even let Speedy under the velvet ropes, in his lil' kart......;)

Give ICF some credit, sponsorship has all but evaporated with the economy these days and I well understand the 'burn out' factor also....I did get an offer from Shell the other day but I'd have to give up my free Royal Purple, still pondering that.

That sounds great! I might have to make it up to Plano sometime for that. I myself am not a Ferrari owner yet, but a HUGE fan. I've come to realize how few people actually come from out of town to these events that aren't owners. Hopefully the Plano crowd wouldn’t mind someone like me.:)

As for the Ferrari Festival held in Houston, I believe it takes place each year toward late Sept/early Oct. The event is held in a great part of town. Aside from the obvious luxurious buildings with valets, one third of the time you turn your head toward traffic someone is looking back in a Bentley.

Wrong time of the year for me then. But, I'm looking at transferring to a new college in a couple locations, and Houston has become one of them. Perhaps if Houston becomes my choice, I'll make it down there. :)

We had a very nice car show here at the winery last year.

On April 5, 2008, Lamborghini Dallas will have its 5th Annual Track & Concorso at the MotorSport Ranch in Cresson, TX. This event will include a casual show for all cars Italian (and perhaps other very interesting cars), and drivers education for any make or model of car, especially Lamborghinis. The drivers education will be for all skill levels, novice to advanced, and we will also have low speed track touring at lunch that all guests are welcome to participate in. Feel free to do both - maybe there will be an award for most brake dust!

There will be many other exciting activities, including - I hope - shotgun rides with yours truly for those with the fortitude to handle it.

Great pic! The 550 in the left foreground is our baby :) It was a great event, but really darn hot, it was nice to be able to duck into airconditioning and take advantage of Franco's hospitality. PaulC, thanks again for telling us about this one!
