You could always try the "Balut!". Seriously though, I've always loved the street foods in Manila (or anywhere for that matter!). Just make sure your "Hepatitis Shots" are up to date.
Donoe' thank you bai for the great info...lechon,bars,restolounge etc. I will surely check those places you endorsed. The only reason why I would be hanging out more at the Loft is that I am related to the owners,my younger sister ang her husband as well as their buisness partners own the swanky joint.I havn't been back in Cebu for six long years and I'm longing for the great food, people and the cars.I also want to get my Scuba certification there as well, you know any good dive spots in Cebu?
Well, one thing for sure Manila/Makati/Ortigas/QC area just have way too many malls within a stone throw away from one another hehe... It all depends what you want to do... Click on this link, this actually helped me decide where I wanted to check out while in Manila (http://flickr.com/photos/diaz/sets/) or (http://www.ourawesomeplanet.com/)... and ofcoure I hit the night clubs on the weekends.. Wow nice, compliments to Loft! I think their sound system and lights are awesome, top of the line gizmos. Yah, six years thats awhile... my brother use to have a Scuba diving business over several years ago, sold it to one of his buddies, I can ask for info. Pare, hang out tayo sa "O Bar" this Sat. 26th if not sa Feb. 9th doon. My bros band is playing once again! BTW, was over at Gerrys Grill last week, their Sisig taste about the same as the one over at Greenhills location, syempre masarap. The funny thing is thou... same size servings but price 4 times more than back home hehe! Piro, im going back there this week to try out their KareKare Hows the dealership coming along? Ready na ba for a walkthru?
What's up guys? It's set. I'm leaving LAX on Tuesday night and will be in Manila by Thursday. I still have an open itinerary until next Monday. So, I guess I'll catch up on the 17 years that I haven't seen the place on the first couple days that I'm there. Just have a couple questions... My parents lives in Alabang but I'm planning on staying in Makati. Any recommendations on lodgings? Also, are there any car club meets? I'm off to Palawan after business so I guess I'll see what's there. BTW, I'm a single guy with just 2 carry-on's. So, if anyone needs to bring back stuff there.
Makati.. i suggest staying at the hotels where its only 3 steps away from the mall hehe, this way you dont have to take a cab/car or be stuck in traffic. Shangril-La Makati is one, Dusit Hotel, Renaissance Hotel, i know there are few more... Be sure to swing by Greenbelt too while you're there. If you happen to be in Fort Bonafacio area check out Serendra/MarketMarkt, thats where i hang out most of the time with my actress buddy, JoycJimenezs. Let me check with my contacts there for upcoming car meets/shows. Wow 17 years, should be fun for you, be sure to hang on to your seats, cus the wild traffic driving style will get you jumpy hehe... So far there are 4 people that I know going back home this week, im jealous Have fun, take cool pics!
I'm going to be at the Peninsula. I have friends at the Shangri-la so I guess I will be in area. I'll check out the stuff that you mentioned. I'm going to see my lolo an lola too. I miss the grandma's cooking. It's so different from over here. That's pretty much what I'm excited about. Oh yeah, and the fruits too. I haven't had santol in years. I'll be taking pics definitely, of my old neighborhood and school. I'll post it on here. Alabang is known for F-cars too. So, I'll see what I can come up with...
i just stumbled upon this thread, and after reading a couple pages i decided i should register. i was there sa Makati area around July of 05 and my cousin Arvin hooked me up with the guys in the Porsche club. it drives me nuts that i don't remember whose car i rode in, but it was an incredibly nice 1965 Porsche 911. i proceeded with him to the breakfast where a lot more people showed up. if you're some of the guys i met that day, i really want to extend my gratitude for your hospitality. it thrills me to know that there is a following for such cars there, and that the owners are down to earth. someday i'd like to move back to the philippines and hopefully hang out with the guys in my own car so i can participate in the Sunday morning runs. i didn't read all the posts in the thread, so i hope i'm not repeating asking this question: do most of the MSCC members import their cars to the Philippines or are they purchased there? talk to you soon; Kris
Hi Kris, I'm glad you have good memories of your visit. If you can remember the color of the Porsche, the owner should be easy to identify. To answer your question, most of the cars at MSCC were imported privately, because, until a few years ago, there were no sports car dealers. However, some of the cars have been in the Philippines for some time. Many of the newer Porsches at MSCC are from the local dealer. Some of the Ferraris were imported individually. MSCC meets every month, and they have a website, so anyone visiting Manila can email them. Here's a picture at one of the meetings last year. . Warm regards, and visit again. Andy, Just checked out the website. Pretty nice set of cars. I'll definitely check them out when I get there. I'm currently in the airport facing the 747 that I'm supposed to board in a couple hours. I'll post some more when I arrive in Manila in about 17 hours...
Hi guys, I've been surfing this site and checking out the cars and looking for the right acquisition. Its nice to see "pinoy cars" and hear from filipinos that are doing well! I grew up in Manila and was us bound by highschool. Love ferraris, but the timing has always been off. Hope to have one soon! I've come across guys whose brought in some high end rides to Manila, M5s, M6s, 997 turbos and one shipped his RUF rt12 from germany. I think the "third world country" definition may have to be redefined! Btw, Lambos are great too, and if I recall one of you guys is a dealer. Those gallardos are very tempting! Scott
Oh geezz, I hope you sleep most during your flight, just the thought of 17hours for me is just way too long hehe. Once you land then.. good times! Be safe and have fun! Welcome aboard Scott! **ANDY, thanks for the pics, thats one beautiful line up! Cheers!
Hey Donoe, 10 hours of sleep, the rest I was watching movies on my ipod. I didn't get to check in the hotel until 9 last night. I ended up eating 4 meals the whole day at aunts. I'm working on the my iterary in Manila for the next 2 weeks and ended up meeting with a childhood friend that now works for Rover. Apparently, they also do Ferraris. I'm going to stop by his office at lunch before my first business meeting. I'll take pics. So far he said they have 355's, a 550 and a 575. It's definetely surprising how the country changed while I was gone. I was also informed of a friend who has a 430 here. I guess we'll see what I can come up with. As far as cars go, I've been seeing a lot of 7 Series BMW.
in regards to MSCC, do you know if there are any rules set that define what qualifies as a sports car? i checked out the site btw. i'm depressed i can't be part of the group just yet haha btw the '65 911 was an off-white color

Hey guys - I am curious if anyone can recommend me to an attorney in Cebu regarding a business transaction. Basically, this guy skipped town on a contract we had made and took my $ with him. Thanks!
I don't quite get what you're saying. But the "hangar" is the service center where my friend works at. I'm flying back in a month for more on the pleasure part instead of the business.
Nice pics bates! Thanks for sharing... Would that be the new Ferrari service located in Makati? I know the one in Ortigas closed down several months ago. Manila sent me this photo earlier, another FCar in flames over the weekend. I dont know the story bout this crash.. assuming it lost control, hit a pole, and caught on fire? Hope nobody was seriously injured. I never knew there was a (Nero or dark color) 360 in Pinas. Anyhow heres a photo. Image Unavailable, Please Login
