    Hi all,
right as some of you may remember I was buying a F355 Spider recently & after finding what I thought was a decent one I decided to get the car inspected.....

The chap who was selling the car had only had it for 3 months & had bought the car from Foskers & I thought I'd give Foskers a call to ask about the car & they said they knew the car very well as they had taken care of it for the last 2 owners & they said that they could do a PPi for me but assured me that everything would be ok with the car (as they knew it)

Anyway I was going to get the car inspected from them but then the chap who was selling the car told me that he was buying another car from Foskers but they didnt want to take his car in p/x which I thought was strange considering they said the car was 'tip top' - so I told them not to insect it & instead got the owner to take it to Barr-Tech ... AND AM I GLAD I DID!

Here's what they found (I hope you have some time readers as theres 2 sheets worth of problems)!!

    ****PAGE 1******

    Both cats ar blowing
Rear subframe corroded (requires replacing) & rear bolts too long

So (if you're still reading lol) HOW THE HELL CAN SOMEONE LIKE FOSKERS SELL A CAR LIKE THIS?
I mean the chap who bought the car off them had'nt done many miles in it at all so how can so much be wrong with the car?

I'm glad I didnt get Foskers to do the PPi on the car as it probably would have been in there interest to sell it asap so that the chap who I was buting the car off could have bought a 550 off them!

    Gutted wasnt the word :-(

Rant over - lets have your thoughts people.

I take it he never had it inspected when he bought it as most of thase faults would not have happened in three months ,he must have known about most of them and then wanted to buy another off them? Barmy !!!

I agree, I even got Barr-Tech to show him the report when he went to collect the car after the inspection & I told him that I personally wouldnt touch Foskers with a barge pole! (That's strictly my opinon only & in no way whatsoever am I trying to put anyone off from dealing with them)!

    Hi,

You have saved yourself a lot of trouble, I would never ever have or recommend a PPI by a dealer or garage that has either worked or sold that car in the past!!!

I hope you find a decent car.

    Regards,
    Phil.

THAT my friend, is a result and a half!!! A good advert for Barr-Tech too who seem to have done a very thorough inspection, how much did they charge you, out of interest.

As an aside, welcome back Ray, lovely to see you on here :)

    Whoa...

Too many dealers believe that they can patch up blemishes on a car and sell it as a car in "good condition".

Why? Because the seller is probably looking to buy a car of theirs and is expecting a certain amount for his trade-in. They can give him the amount he wants ONLY if they do a half-ass job fixing the trade-in up.

I guess it must work sometimes or they'd be out of business!

They would say that. There is no way if they have looked after a car for two years that they will say it is cr@p, otherwise it shows they have not maintained it correctly.
Never get a PPI from a garage that has maintained the car.

Barr Tech sound great, and all for £180. Superb.

A few of those are MOT failures - I find it hard to believe that a pair of CV boots and a rack gaiter have all split since the last test. It's almost like an MOT tester is giving out cert's to the trade without seeing the car..

Barr-Tech quoted me around £8,000 to put the car right!!

I've since been out & bought an E46 M3 SMG Convertible - it's a nice car but it aint no Ferrari :-(

I'll keep an eye out for a good deal though :)
