Here's a picture of the shifter in my 348. It's the best I can do without pulling it out of the car. The 348 is the only Ferrari to use a cable operated shifter, so the lever is not the same as the 355, which uses normal linkage. I don't know what your incorrect shifter is from, but it isn't from a 348. And it certainly isn't made from pot metal. I wouldn't be surprised if your old shifter had been "sawn" partly through by contact with the shift gate. Someone enjoyed slammin' the stick around.

Anyway, what difference does it make what car the incorrect shifter came from? Are you planning to build a car around it?

Great Pic. Appreciate your efforts. Well that's one can I can certainly elimunate.

Upon close exaimination of my broken lever under a magnifier, there is no grove on the surface that contacts the shifter. When the 2 peices are joined together it's a pefect fit with no evidence of wear. So no sawing action. I showed to a guy who runs a machine shop and he says it's crap metal. Mush have been a stress fracture. Ever heard of anyone else breaking one? I have not. Thanks again. My quest continues. I guess I'm obessesd now in finding out where it's from.

Maybe it's a cheap, poorly-made knock off that isn't even close to what it should be....???
