Was curious to when the F40 "Light Weight" and 250 GTO are actually due.

Last I heard was around April/May.

They keep the release timeframes pretty well updated for Minichamps and Kyosho. They list 2nd quarter, which is vague, but better than 3rd or 4th.

On a Dutch scale model forum some dealers who returned from the Nürnberg Toy Fair have posted the following:

It seems that Kyosho is allowed to produce models for which they've already made the tools until at least July 1st. Negotiations are going on to extend that production period to December 31st.

After this period Kyosho is reportedly no longer allowed to produce models in 1/18 scale in the below 250 Euro range or models in 1/43 scale in the below 120 Euro range (effectively the ranges which are covered by Hotwheels themselves).

Basically Kyosho is allowed to produce models in 1/18 scale in the same class as BBR (above 250 Euro) but that's already covered by BBR.

Kyosho is not allowed to make new models unless the prototype phase is in an advanced stage. After July 1st or December 31st they are not allowed to deliver any models so they won't be ably to have a stock after one of these dates.

Effectively Kyosho will end the Ferrari product range for the aforementioned scales.

The good news of all this is that the 250 GTO and 575 GTC 2005 versions look to be getting the green light for production. I've placed my orders today.

Yup, those plus all the others they have "pre" released. Like the TRs, and F40 "Light Weights".

A rumour on the Toy Fair says that Hot Wheels might loose their license because Ferrari is reportedly unhappy with the quality. That could be a reason why Hot Wheels can't extend the sub-licenses to Kyosho.

    I have 2 250 GTO's on pre-order and 1 F40 "Light Weight"

For the 250 GTO they say it's coming the 30th of June, and for the F40 they say April 2008
