WHow come some of the pics are clear while others have distorted colours? why are some full size instead of thumbnail? What's the trick here?

    Steve,

The distorted ones are posted as attatchments. just click on them to get a large and clear picture.

The pictures that are already shown clearly are posted using a URL which you can only do if you have use of your own web site .

ps . i'm not an expert on these things but I think thats about right.

    I hope this attatchment works.

My previous F355 at Zhuhai, China. 3 years ago.

    John,

Very nice car, I owned a similar car 3-4 years ago but sold it in favour of the GTO. We share alot of common interests, I too have a fascination with Watches and all things Aeronautical.

I currently wear a Breitling Chrono Avenger for Everyday use but also have a W/Gold Crosswinds, Phillipe Patek Ferrari Special and a Tag H Monaco, Picking one to go out in can be tiresome.

I work in the Aerospace business, and love the industry - I have a few favourite aircraft, Concorde has to be in there as does the SR 71, The F15 and F22 and the all time great FA 2 Sea Harrier's are also favourites.

    Cheers,

    Steve

    Thanks Tony.

It has the original paintwork & trim colour, but both are restored. The engine is coming to the end of a fairly comprehensive overhaul (the previous owner having let it hibernate a little too long). If either of you were at the FOC Meet at Broughton Hall earlier this year, you'll have seen that blue & tan Daytona on the Concours lawn. Mine's very similar, but not quite as good.

The interior condition is very good, the exterior slightly less so - but I wanted a car for regular use rather than a 'trailer queen' as the Americans say...

Steve, I'm always promising myself a nice watch to go with the car. Perhaps a Girard Perregaux Ferrari model, an IWC Portuguese or Audemars Royal Oak. Meantime, my trusty Seiko Chronograph will have to do (I guess you're jealous..).

As for aircraft, I'd go for a late 40s Griffin-engined (five blade) Spitfire bubble-top, P51 Mustang, or Schneider Trophy Supermarine seaplane. I love those old piston engined single-seaters which are 'all engine', just like the Daytona. Living near Brighton, we often have such things flying over in the Summer en route to air shows. They sound great. Actually, following the restoration of the Daytona engine is a bit like seeing a Rolls-Royce Merlin in an aircraft museum - on a smaller scale. I'd put vintage Bentleys in the same 'over engineered' category. See attached pic of that lovely 4.4 litre 4 cam V12....

According to the chap who is rebuilding the engine (who also used to 'do' Merlins), the CAA regs are so tight that they could not cost-effectively now work on aero engines.

(I also keep promising myself a trip to Davis Monthan air base / Pima Air Museum in Tucson AZ - where the US military keeps its mothballed fighter planes / bombers etc. Did you see the article about it in last month's Octane...? Amazing place).

    Best regards, John

    John,

Engine looks great, Although our interests are similar, our tastes are very different, Audemars and Girard Perregaux are ggod watch makers but not my cup of tea, IWC only make one watch that I might consider, the De Vinci Split Seconds.

I though you might be the type of guy to have a Rolex 'Daytona' ???

I like your choice of aircraft though, I too love that whole over engineered era, I voted for I K Brunnel to be the 'Best Briton' - There's just no justice for us hard working engineer's !

Hope to see you and the car at a few days out next year maybe ?

Here's a cool picture of a Spitfire for you collection !

ATB - Keep up the Good Work,

    Steve

    Thanks Steve.

At least we've the same taste in cars.

Next time you're down at Goodwood, make time to visit the Tangmere Aircraft Museum (5 miles up the road).

Tangmere was the base from which Hawker Hunters used to fly when they broke the World Air Speed Record in the 1940s (before Chuck Yeager came along). they have one of the ASR planes there, plus lots of other good prop & jet stuff. The place is partly staffed by ex WW2 airmen, so they have plenty to say...

Anyway, are we getting off topic a bit here...?

Hope to see you next year (Goodwood FoS, FOC Concours etc).

    John

I guess in general our tastes seem to be similar,A 328GTS a rolex day/date with presidential and I also work in the aerospace industry, though I must confess my intrest in aircraft is purely on a professional basis.

I know, I suck - I'm really sorry guys - all of you!

It was all edited and ready to go, but someone who saw a preview was very insistant a particular scene was cut. I just haven't had time to re-edit since.

I will do my very best to get it done this w/e and get it out! I still have everyone's address.
