My 348 Spider speedometer reads 10MPH and the tach 1000 rpm with the key off. When the car is moving the speedo and tach work fine all be it reading 10mph and 1000 rpm high. When I got the car everything was working fine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Are you certain there are not pegs holding them in that position that you did not notice in the early going? I'm not certain that is how the 348 is since I am a 328 owner. I am sure one of the 348 guys will chime in.

I have not seen any pegs. They used to go to zero. Thanks

My speedo rests at 10 MPH and the tach rests at 500 RPM. From what I've heard from other owners it is pretty common. It hasn't bothered me enough to look into a fix - what is really interesting is yours used to go to zero? Now that is strange!

There ARE pins in the dial faces that hold the needles at 500rpm and 10mph. Look carefully. If the pins were not there, the needles would go below zero.

If your tach needle is at 1000rpm when the engine is not running, and there is a pin at the 500rpm area, THEN you have a problem.

This picture is from the R&T test of the 348 Spider, so it should be identical to yours.

Edit: By the way, your speedo and tach are probably NOT reading high just because their lower limits don't go down to zero. Does your speedo read 20mph when you are driving at walking speed? When your engine is at idle (approx. 950 rpm) does the tach read 1450 rpm?
