What's the deal with a racing license or driving school certificate? Is that a requirement for your insurance? We've never needed these before at Ferrari Club track events. Bob S.
You only need a racing license or driving school certificate to run with the "expert" group. Novice and intermediate run groups don't require that. It's not an insurance issue, but in the past at our track days we've had people with minimal experience try to run in the expert group and in the future we want that group to really be only people who are certified to do so. It will maximize safety and fun for everyone. Hope that clears it up.
Ok then, it looks like it will be a great new track. The schedule already looks full. A few more questions then If I could? Who's running the event from a technical standpoint? 1. tech inspection. 2. pit in/out 3. corner workers from where? 4. enforcemnt of driving rules. Thanks Matt. Bob S.
For the 2008 season we will be employing our own flaggers, starters, and instructors at our track days. The safety crew and tech people will be provided by Thunderbolt itself. Look forward to seeing you at the track!
I am most likely in, but have a few questions first. -If possible could you give me a rough estimate on the amount of track time each person will get? -Are helmets required, and if they are, is it possible to rent one? -Will I definitely be able to have an instructor, as I have never taken my car on a track and would probably be a bit nervous?
I am most likely in, but have a few questions first. -If possible could you give me a rough estimate on the amount of track time each person will get? It depends on how many cars show up, but the 3 run groups will be rotating all day long from 9-5 in 30 minute intervals. So, you'll be driving 30 of every 90 minutes all day. Basically, you will get more track time available than either you or your car can handle for a first time event. -Are helmets required, and if they are, is it possible to rent one? Yes, helmets and long pants and sleeves are required. I haven't thought about buying a few to rent out to people, but I'll look into it. I'm sure something can be worked out. -Will I definitely be able to have an instructor, as I have never taken my car on a track and would probably be a bit nervous? Very understandable. There will be instructors on site if you would like to have one in the car with you. I generally like to have an instructor with me as well, as it makes the most of track time, especially when you are a beginner. I can't guarantee that you will be able to have an instructor in your car for every session, but it's never beeen a problem before. Once you get them to show you the line of the track and the entry/exit procedures etc, you can go out alone with no problems. I'll get back to everyone about the helmet rental thing.
Just tell Me where to send the money, I live 5 miles from the track and I was hoping someone would book a date!
