Why didn't you post your comments at the end of the original thread?

Particularly since you actually posted in the original thread. You knew it existed.

    Agree to an extent>

The repost finger pointing in a thread like this is unwarranted, because it is not a well known bit of information.

Crying "repost" however, when someone asks "what do you do/how much did it cost/how can I get a Ferrari at MSRP today" gets old quick and is excusable.

lol that is interesting, why did tifosiron make this topic after posting in the other one. He must be forgetting things in his old age. Either way, I agree I hate these forum Nazi's labeling everything a repost, and telling people to use the search function. Maybe they should use a get life function.

The other day there was 3 threads about the same topic within days of each other, MS taxi driver. I'am lazy myself but there should be some sort of order and you calling someone a Nazi for pointing it out is quite frankly stupid.

    Thanks.

Personally I find it a bit rude when somebody starts a new thread about something we already have a thread. It's like saying to those folks "I don't give a hoot what you said about this already. I'll start my own thread anyway."

Now in Ron's case that is a bit weird as he was part of the first conversation.

Of course as a mod I could just merge the threads together. Makes for some really confusing reading. :)

    Back on the subject:
The Bild article in my thread mentions that the race is held at Circus Maximus. That would be the big track in Rome. However looking at the picture from autosport this looks a lot more like the Greek track (mountains in the background, not really a city) in Olympia. So I guess once again, Bild got its F1 news wrong. :)

Instead of doing: "repost" why not merge the threads together, that solves the problem without getting into "repost". Especially if you have mod power in this thread. If you don't and it irritates you, ask a mod to merge them.

ON the other hand, why we try to keep one thread per subject, it will clutter the board with small discussions threads and people cannot get all the information without reading 2-3 sometimes more threads.
Someone wants to know something he asks a question that is answered in the same thread subject 5 threads down on the list. It simply clutters.

On the subject. I always liked Asterix. Never could understand the craze though. The only reason why the French love it so much is that them, being the first to surrender when trouble comes, they would love to see a "hero" come and defeat the powers they already surrendered to. (putting: "Le flame suit" on) :)

Asterix is just a very clever comic strip, that I - as a non French, but European - love/d tremendously. All the anachronisms and puns are so ingenious. Lots of non French folks love the hero.

Regarding the surrendering French: Remember Napoleon? He conquered Europe. Twice. Yes, the Brits eventually defeated him, but that doesn't detract from his glorious victories against armies much bigger than his own. And he helped spread the intellectual achievements of the French revolution into Europe.

The French, like so many other great nations and civilizations before them, had a peak time. Their glory is gone by now, but that doesn't mean they were always like that. Modern Italy is a mere shadow of its glory days as the Roman Empire. The Italian army was a joke in WWII, but that doesn't take away from them once ruling the entire known world. Except for that little Gaul village in the Normandy (and you thought I went too far off topic, didn't you?:)).

Instead of giving you a repost citation, I merged the three threads.

May the sky not fall on our heads!

If you read the German article at the front of the thread, it says they've even got the Spurs' Tony Parker in the movie! Now if they could get his wife Eva there in a toga.....
(For the few that may not know, Tony was raised in France and is quite well known there)

This link gives background on the film:

    http://www.webinfrance.com/asterix-olympic-games-biggest-budget-film-in-france-291.html

Seems they have used the principle "all in" to get a success:

Be sure Schumacher and the rest were paid, the article says:

The star cast of Asterix cost the producers 10 million euros, the copyright for the Asterix characters seven million, eight million for sets and costumes, with 32 million euros going for technical elements during the six-month shoot in southern Spain, and exhaustive post-production laden with special effects.

BTW, went to see the movie with our 2 boys last evening. The plot is a bit thin, but the movie has the usual Asterix links to modern times (here doping, corrupt olympic controllers, the invention of the football etc)

We had a good laugh of the horse race, which included formula 1 style pitstop for the red team.
