After a short break following last week's testing, the Ferrari team resumed its activities today in Bahrain with Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa working on the continuing development of the F2008.

Things started out under cloudy conditions this morning on the Sakhir circuit until clear skies took control of the environment, raising the ambient temperature to 24 degrees Celsius.

The programme of the day concentrated on finding the best set-up for the car, which has already shown great potential. Both Ferraris were faster than the Toyota racers also testing on the same track.

World Champion Raikkonen had a trouble-free day, completing 66 laps with a best performance of 1:30.914, about a half-second off his fastest run recorded last Wednesday.

Unfortunately for Massa, his session was interrupted by a hydraulics glitch during the afternoon. Up to that point, the Brazilian had covered 53 laps, the quickest in a time of 1:31.174.

Testing continues at this circuit tomorrow, again with Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa on track.

The two Ferrari drivers tested with a different rear wing today, not a new one, just the wavey one they used at a few circuits last year (Canada, Indy for example). They had been using the more traditionally shaped one.

The first pics are from earlier in the week, Massa was also testing the wavey wing today.

I think the new aero looks great on the F2008, always love to see it in the tobacco livery as well.

and day 5 is behind us...

As the second three-day schedule of testing at the Bahrain International Circuit continued today, Ferrari drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa enjoyed clear skies and warm weather as they took to the track.

Today was the fifth and penultimate day of this long week of testing for Ferrari at the Sakhir circuit, but this working Sunday was not the most successful on the reliability front as both drivers had to stop running ahead of schedule prior to the end of their planned programmes.

An oil leak stopped Raikkonen, who was working on car development and set-up testing at the time, while an engine problem interrupted the final part of a race simulation being undertaken by Massa.

Up to that point, the Brazilian had completed 70 laps, the quickest in a time of 1:30.190.
The World Champion Finn did 61 laps, with a fastest time of 1:30.015. Despite their interrupted sessions, both Ferrari drivers set times quicker than the Toyota pair also running at Sakhir.

Testing continues at this circuit tomorrow, still with Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa on track.

Great Reliability problems, this is just what other teams want to see. I hope it's not serious and is worked out in time for Australia. I would hate to see a repeat of last years race.

Actually the boys in red have done well. The whole idea of the shakedowns and tests are to push the car to the limits so they can identify the weak links and make the necessary corrections.
