    I love the look of modern for it's sleek, clean lines. But yeah, I always grew up associating that with commercial space and it doesn't feel "home-y" to me - exactly like you said it looks "cold." Maybe it would be more comfortable with more exposure. As for me now, I like stone and wood surfaces in the home.

    Remember how I said that the Nightingale house was one of my favorite homes?

    Well this one is other. 1654 Blue Jay Way, again in the Bird Streets of the Hollywood Hills. Looks like it may be back on the market for $11.5 million. The current owner (I guess the seller? Not clear on the info here) I believe is Tyler Perry (of Madea fame), who bought it for $9.6m at the end of 2006.

    The architects are SPF:a (Studio Pali Fekete), who I really like: http://www.spfa.com/.

    Bennett Carr, the king of the Hollywood Hills, seems to have the listing, though it isn't on his website yet. However, he also had the listing at $9.6m, with lots of photos on his website: http://www.bennettcarr.com

    Took this in Bali a couple of years ago. A true bird house. Wish i had taken more, but we were just driving by. Many beautiful modern houses in Bali. I even bought a book about them.
