Interesting post. All this discussion of values was interesting, but the truth is I have a well-sorted 328 now and if someone offered me $10K over market I still wouldn't be too eager to sell.

Maybe a Spider, but not a GTB or GTS

Someone posted earlier that there is a glut of 360's.

WOW is that true or what? I tallied 340 360's for sale online from around 250K to 92K.

I see some owners here who own 355's want to move up to a 360.

For a nice 355 some are happy to say the average is 75K

So with a bit of haggling one could say that the price difference between an average 355 and a 360 is only 20K?

    If I don't find a 355 soon enough, I think I may jump over it and get a 360. 20K isn't that much more.

And in a year to year and a half, I'll have more than that from which to shop.

The economy seems shaky and money's going to get tighter for the more marginal Ferrari owners. Luxury items are the first things ppl sell.

I remember back in 1989 when cars were fetching silly money in auctions, then in early 90's the bottom fell out of the market and there were a lot of collector deals to be had.

I also remember when a Ferrari would cost almost as much as a house. Now... even 500K couldn't buy a pot to p*ss in.

Gallon of gas vs. cost of owning a Ferrari?

I think the prices have dropped, the slight rise in 355 prices (if there is one) has to be attributed to inflation. Bread and milk up almost 30% in 12 months.

    It's my humble opinion.

If $75K is average and $20K more is $95K---A 360 for $95K? You will not get a decent one for that price---Either a no service history, or high mileage or problem car is all you will get for $95K... The difference between a good 355 and a good 360 of EQUAL value is more like $30-$35k...

Absolutely true, I've seen this rationale discussed before - comparing avg. 355 prices to bottom of the barrel 360's. While 355 shopping last year I did check out a local 360 for $105k, and to put it nicely it was beat to hell and needed a major.

Personally it took me about 3-4 mos. to find my 355, and I think I was very lucky to stumble upon the one I own now. And no question spiders are everywhere, while GTB's and especially GTS's are less common.

It took me about 6mo. to find a Red '95 GTB with black interior after I really got serious about buying one.

$30K like a 308 is now. Just imagine the cost to repair a 355 when no more console parts are available, used headers are unobtainium, guides worn out, sticky plastic everywhere, buggered F1 pumps, look at TR prices and they pack a flat 12! Anyone buying one will factor in a gazillion dollars for possible nightmares like they do on the TR's. High productions numbers doesnt help either. The 360 will follow suit.

Well I'm happy to say you're wrong. I've been throwing some offers at dealers with 360's and they are very happy to come off their price, well not happy, but they are. In fact more so than the F355's who seem a lot more stubborn and grouchy (mostly private parties, who want to get in excess of $70,000 so they themselves can to move up to a 360). When both models are present on the lot... you can't help but be drawn over to the 360. So my guess is, so are other buyers.

I've also done my research and discovered some alarming issues with 355's that I don't want to have to deal with. Not that 360's don't have some too. Price comparison (service-wize) the 350 is $1,000 cheaper than the 355 on regular service and in some cases up to $3,000 on the full service.

So as of last week I'm looking just at 360's.

See you on the 360 board!

What is the criteria for pricing in the FML? I've always thought it was on the high side. Does it assume that the car is sealed in a zip lock bag with zero miles and a lock of Enzo's hair?

Robbie, I think that is right on the money, assuming the condition and mileage of each one are exactly the SAME, a person can expect to fork out $30K-$35K for the difference.

With fewer than 4000 355 spiders ever made and with the 355 being the last of the svelte-sleek Ferraris, and with China and India emerging car markets (and hence desire for sleek Ferraris going up [supply/demand], the F355 mkt is at bottom now. 20 years from now it will surpass 360 prices HANDS DOWN. Now is the time to buy a 355!

+20... I think the 360 prices will hit 355 level within the next few years, may be it only needs 10 years to surpass 360, IMHO... Of course except for the CS! CS rules!
