Romalisa, Nice work; very expressive drawing style. Is Bill Barranco still teaching there? Knew him at ACCD when we were both there. Jeff
Hi Jeff, Bill Barranco has been gone for about 4 years. Its a shame because he not only taught so well but as a recruiter he was a good connection for jobs. He is replaced by a drill sargent type of teacher that puts students through hell. Roman
You should be use to hell by now! At ACCD there was a teached that all the ID students had on the first day of their first term. His hello to all the kids were still trying to find out where the bathrooms were was that "if you want to hear something nice take it home to your mother, if you want the truth that was here". It is a shame that you lost having a direct connection with a recruiter. The possibilities for employment as a car designer is much, much broader now (more studios in lots more places) but I don't know if they all come visit for end of term recruiting. Is Tom Matano still teaching? By the way, since you are getting close to graduation, what are the desirable studios that everyone wants an offer from? Jeff
Fortunately, we still have Tom. He is dedicated to get us into the studios. I cant say enough about how much of an influence he is on me and the ID department. To be honest if Tom goes(which he probably wont) then many other teachers will quit. You replied about our teacher from hell, I think that it is neccesary for the students to go through that in order to get on a professional level with their habits. I alway say, it was helpful but im glad that its over. For me the prefference is getting into any of the studios in LA, but at this point its what ever is offered. Some of my classmates are in Australia, Spain, Germany, Detroit, and so on. I cant stand the anxiety over the fact that I might not find a job, so much stress! I hope it will be okay come graduation. sorry darkshark this was your thread, seems like couple of artists hoped on with their stuff. There is more discussion about other's stuff.
No, it's okay. It's very interesting to hear something about the ID universitys and to learn something from a professional like jeff. I really like your stuff keep on posting
You speak from experience which no nube wants to hear. They think their talent will make them choice despite they have no experience in the industry or knowledge of the whole picture. I have no use for arrogant art school graduates & never consider them for a job in my department.
OUCH!!! I know what you mean though. We often have this mind set that we the amateurs know better. Usually sooner or lare there is a realization about how much on the bottom of the barrel we really are. One thing that I have noticed is sometimes there is a time for fresh ideas, things that bring different ways of thinking. Im sure you came to your conclusion after dealing with some arrongant and cocky graduates. Roman
Roman, your drawing style is the one I love and I'm going to reach that level ;] GREAT perspective, simple and moderate. Keep up! I like those projects. Do you have any designs of your own models?
Thanks for the compliment, I would have to say primarily I draw non existant designs. You can see more of my work on me and my wifes web site: www.romalisa.com Here is a study of the Alfa BAT for the year 2035 Image Unavailable, Please Login
