so did I but I'm a little disappointed in the quietness of the sound, does this improve with age or is the sound you get initially the same all the time ?

I only changed the muffler last Tuesday and done about 200kms since and it does seem to have changed ever so slightly in that short time

I changed mine to a tubi , the difference in sound is amazing , it pops and crackles on the overun and sounds awesome throughout the rev range.

Not being a mechanic , can anyone elaborate on what these "inserts" are , what they do and where i can get them.

The stebro has little resonators in the exhaust tips that are removable with a removale with a screw. I never took mine out until I read about others on this site. The inserts have different lenths. Compared to the ansa euro , my stebro with inserts was much louder & I left it alone. when I took them out completely , wow, its sounds like a big block chevy @ idle & wails like an F1@ 7k!

There is a new parkway that opened behind my subdivision( it used to be a nice curvy country road that we used as a private test track, now its a curvy smooth 4 lane). On my sunday morning paper run last week I had a little fun & made a few high rpm laps . When I got home my wife said she heard the car in the shower! I have been laid up with llness this year unable to walk well let alone drive much, & throughout the day all my neighbors were calling my wife saying they heard the wailing & hopefully I was back! gotta love it.

First I did the Hyperfow Cat dance with Rachel (my 92 Mondial Valeo). The sound was not dramatically different. About a year later I called Daniel and had him ship me an X-OST muffler. Tis an elegantly rich sound :)

    Hi Mike,

In the old tech threads, i stumbled across a flowmaster installation using a dual in and dual out, (2.5 inch on all) flowmaster. It most frequently is used in a transverse, behind the axle installation for american muscle cars.

I had a local muffler shop, that does excellent work, install one with a couple of chromed resonator tips. They installed a stainless heat shield so they could tuck it up close to the trunk and i didn't have to run the "diaper".
It has a great sound, particularly with the air cleaner off, (when i am fiddling with the carbs).

The total cost was about $600-$650. I put the other $1500-2000 towards an ignition upgrade and suspension overhaul.

I will be leaving for home from santa barbara tomorrow, so if you want some photos, let me know and i will post them when i get back home.

Anybody going to the FCA Thunderhill track event on Arpil 11??? I can hardly wait.

    best,
    chris

hyperflow test pipe with stock muffler. Sounds a little louder and deeper but not so bad that it would get tiring on a long drive.

Perhaps we are all torn a bit. We all want the car to sound like a F1 car at 20 k, but we have to drive the car to the store for a roll of building felt or a pound of nails.

On the other hand, I just returned from a 1000 mile trip to visit family and my wife asked me to buy her some ear plugs for the return trip. I was cool with the carbs unfettered whailing, (since i had not yet replaced the uncorked air cleaner), but we have to live with spouses and neighbors. Man, I would dearly love to scream around the track with open pipes, but that doesn't cut it in the neighborhood.

Maybe, i will look into removeable baffles for the resonator tips and put the air cleaner back on.

    viva ENZO,
    chris

Here is a shot of the flowmaster and resonator tips before it was removed to paint. Notice the stainless shield above the muffler. This lets it be tucked up quite close to the trunk. Trunk temps seem cooler than stock.

I may go to resonators with removeable tips when i pull the system, including headers, to get the Jet Hot coated.

    best,
    chris

Chris, before you remove it, is it possible to hear a sound clip of your set up? Thanks:)

Got some sort of stainless system on my 308 GT4. Not sure what make it is as it came with the car, but it sounds like small arms fire on the overrun.
