Yeah, ebay and most online shops will want that kinda money for one. I'm still in shock over finding that one so cheap. The owner of the shop I bought it at said it was sitting there for 3 weeks. I still would not feel cheated if I were you though, I was getting to the point that where I was about to shell out some more $ just to get my hands on one. I even kept the receipt lol...
Here's my Jouef P4 It's YELLOW ! Look for it at 1:24 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYtgJUGR6Cs ...and yes I also was told it was a crap when I first bought it .
If you like it, it's not a piece of crap. It's not the best model in the world, but it is certainly not the worst. That honor is reserved for the Bburago E-type Jag. . .
No no the Worstest model ever was the HW 550 Barchetta that was truly awful here's how badly my Jouef 330 P4 was bashed when I showed it first . http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31002
I think they were the same molds, but as far as the other details I don't know. I do think this Jouef is way under rated though, for the time line it was released. Everyone I know who has bought one (other then a few) have loved this diecast.
I think there has been somewhat twisting of the reality here. I love my Joueff 330P3/4s. All four of them. They are some of my all time favorite models. I do like them for what they are and the character they have. However they ARE CRAP. And the time when they were made is a very poor excuse for their quality. Like I have said before, they are awful compared to other models also made by Joueff , which were made at the same time. I am not even comparing them to other companies' models from the same era. These models look to me like someone started making an alright model and then stopped, and someone else finished it without any will. Half of it is like an afterthought. The execution is waaaayyyyy short of the industry's capabilities at the time, again proven by many, many other models from the same era. That is just my opinion. Comparing it to the HW 550 Barchetta is laughable. The HW model is space years ahead in design and quality of execution . Now, this is a fact, not just my opinion. The truth of the matter is that the Joueff Ferrari 330P3/4 is one of the worst 1:18 models I have ever seen, that we have all come to love dearly for what it is. I have no idea why, but maybe the timeless design of the real car and the fact that no one else makes it have a lot to do with it.
They are my favorite models I have in my collection. Here are some pics and here is a list of what they made. I also have the #25 NART in White and the Yellow 412 but apparently don't have a picture of them. I hope this isn't out of place, as this thread seems to be talking about the 1:18 330 models. I also have a couple and won't comment on the relative quality (or lack thereof), but I will say this - I also have a couple of 1:43 Joeuf models that are really very nice. I have a 330, and 250SWB, and one or two others which escape my memory now. But they're really, REALLY nice. FWIW/YMMV/you may disagree/etc/etc. gp
I also have a Joueff 330 P4 in 1:43, which is way above nice. They are like little jewels. I also had the 250 SWB from the same collection but it mysteriously disappeared one day. And I believe I still have my 1964 250 GTO. All of them have everything opening and great detail, like photoetched wipers, wheels, engine wires etc. I think when they came out they could easily blow away numerous BBR models and were like $60. Also Joueffs made an incredible 330P4 in 1:24 in plain red and plain yellow. They were $100 and I will regret to the rest of my life not buying them.
Those Jouefs and Eagles Race cars are nice to modify. Just check my threads! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=139128
