Way to go Vince!! That's what i'm talkin bout!!!!!!!!! don't we have a cross reference thread somewhere to add this great wisdom to?
If we knew where Italian Car Parts sourced them, we'd probably buy them for 25usd ea. Over 500usd for a pair is rape... pure & simple. Rgds, Vince
A simple philosophy has served me well over the years for most things, "If you have got to worry about what it costs, you can't afford it." As for cars, buy them because you love them and want to drive them, investment potential wants to be less than 5% of the motivation. Then fun is possible - This is not a rehearsal! An enthusiast, I dreamed quite happily for decades, it got to be a habit. One day I woke up and thought "You can do this and if you are serious, you had better get on with it"
One can aspire to any of the diverse clubs available here on F-chat. The clubs available include: ~ the 'poseurs' club (a very diverse and needy group - fun to play with) ~ the 'more money than brains' club (aka: the 'silver spoons') ~ the all around 'car guy' club (thankfully, the largest membership here on F-chat) ~ the 'supplier's' club (a special thanks to them as well) ~ the 'mechanical aficionado' club (aka: the 'wrench turners') No doubt there are more clubs. Personally, I aspire to the 'mechanical aficionado' club and as such, have a fond and thankful appreciation for the folks like 91TR. To me, driving a car without turning wrenches is like being married to a frigid trophy wife. You can show them off... but you can't touch them, nor can you understand how they work. Alas, there are some clubs to which I do not aspire. :-( What are your aspirations? Good luck in life, Vince
I started one a while back but the mod's are only interested in banning people around here and did not create a sticky for it after repeated requests.
ridiculous. i don't cut my grass but i can touch it and i know exactly how it works. i bet 99% of the people on this forum don't "turn wrenches" and you just insulted all of them. on a side note, i have succumbed to the piston envy. Shamile you will be proud. Image Unavailable, Please Login
another old canard. i get paid to drive my cars. i also don't over pay for parts. or much else in my life. I see no reason to revel in overpaying. you are just foolish not to worry about costs. no matter what level of success you have attained. sorry, i just keep getting drawn back to this thread against my will.
Yikes! I agree 100%. How come the Testarossa's don't have "any" stickys?????? I feel discrimination!! We need Stickys! We need Stickys! Anybody else wanna TR Sticky? Show your support!
i agree i think a sticky is good for the TR as well, have to ask a mod in this section though. Dave maybe can do one.
I've read through most of the 10 pages of this thread, and I'd like to inject this view-point: all of the TR-bashing hurts this forum. I came on here about a year ago because I wanted to learn more about Ferraris, at the time considering either a Testarossa or a 348. I knew nothing when I came one here, save having seen the cars at the occasional car show and read the odd magazine article, but I had always loved the look and sound of the Testarossa, and ultimately that's what I bought. In its day it was down-right revolutionary, and turned the car world on its ear at that time. Had I paid much attention to the negativity on this board, I'd still be taking the bus. I don't come on here very often because I don't feel like having my hobby denigrated, whether by people who never have and never will own a Ferrari of any description, or by Ferrari owners who, for whatever reason, feel like putting other enthusiasts down. I've had some excellent chats with some members or this forum, but I typically keep them in the private message area, just to avoid being flamed by the morons. It seems ironic that with performance cars being constantly attacked under the environmental banner, and a general resentment by the public toward the owners of any of these cars, that the community would be so fractured, and that some members here would be so intent on "eating their young". I agreed with Kerry's rant, fwiw. M
Dear Ferraristi, Wetpet, great taste! Ok, self indulgent because that is exactly what I drive. I have a 97.5 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster. Mine is in Monterary Blue with Snowcorn on black carpet. Your roadster would still look better parked next to a TR though On the wrench part, I love working on my cars. I consider them a hobby so I love "gettin in em " I wish I had more skill like 91 TR and Adam (silvergts) and of course....Carguy! I would disagree about the percentile though. Most owners on this site are more into the F cars as a hobby not just fancy transportation. If you don't work on your cars, now you have the Lambo.....you will soon.....trust me. I'm just waiting for your first CEL question BTW, I still wear my Porsche Design sunglasses (gold trim pr ) Shamile Freeze...Miami Vice!
Dear Ferraristi, I got this from a concours in Sarasota, FL I was entered. TR maintaince doesn't seem so expensive now does it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I too read all of the scary stories about the exploding differentials and snapping input shafts. Scared me so bad I bought one anyway........................................ today. Screw 'em! Image Unavailable, Please Login
The criteria was NO BLACK and I would "like" to stay away from red unless it was above average. This one was above average mechanically with extras like Capristo exhaust, recent clutch , brake pads etc.......... It was close by, owned by a Club member and I know who did the last 30k and WHAT they did. Plenty of receipts. I couldn't pass it up. I can live with red. Hopefully have it home by next weekend.
Dear Ferraristi, Alright ! Congrats! Don't forget to yell "freeze....Miami Vice ! " everytime you jump out. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice !
NICE!! Good for you. I did the same despite all the BS that floats on here, and I couldn't be happier. Enjoy it.
