Jay, Are going to place the order tomorrow??? Monday that is... Oh, GO GIANTS... Sorry man we lived in New England for about three years and well.. GO GIANTS..
ok guys, time to order! I ordered mine this morning, now just need the 4 others to do the same. You can email your bill to / ship to info and (very important!) specify model year / Motronic system - 2.7 or 5.2. The headers are different for each so they need this to ship you the right ones. Send the email to: [email protected] (different Jay, I don't work for them, honest!). If you don't want to email your CC info, give them a call at 888-646-4945 and just say you're with Jay's Ferrarichat 355 group buy. Now for you other guys on the sidelines...it's not too late to jump in. They agreed to keep the group buy price for us for a little while longer. They can also supply headers with ceramic coating; this is an additional $300 and would take a few extra days.
I have ordered mine without the coating---I will deal with that at a later time. Spoke to Joe and he seemed very knowledgable and helpful. He said they are in the process of making an air intake system for the 355 with carbon fiber goodies, can't wait until that comes out!!
Jay, Thanks for coordinating the order with Fab speed... I just called and spoke with Jay so I am all set... Sonny.....
HAHA---Jay at Fabspeed told me another guy was calling about the group buy as he was finishing up with me--Must of been you!!
Yeah I was talking to someone else there and she said he was on the phone answering some questions from another guy from F-Chat... Nice!!!
For you guys drooling over these, the group buy is still open. No definitive end date set yet, but better to get in soon and not worry about them ever again! I'm still undecided on the coating...for what it's worth, here's a pic of the coating on my STi headers which a local guy in CT did. The finish isn't perfect now, but not flaking anywhere. In the hottest areas it appears more oxidized and dull. I'd estimate these have 15k miles on them and 2.5 yrs., including all weather use (and for the past year it was outside full time thanks to the 355 purchase!). Image Unavailable, Please Login
I am thinking the polished finish will look pretty nice, even after it gets that blue and yellow tint.
I have to say it does!!! I have been driving mine non stop for the past few days and the headers are getting that gold color... They still look great!!!
Yes, pictures please! Even better, can you measure temps with an IR gun? This may be tricky and not repeatable, I'm sure they will vary widely based on all the obvious variables.
Gentlemen, Is the Group buy still open for the Fabspeed headers at $2345 plus free shipping? Also did everyone determine with the Fabspeed headers that a heat shield is not needed for the alternator Thanks Mike
Any change in sound of exhaust with the headers? Any change in the feel of the car as far as performance?
Yeah, definitely still interested - car is being taken apart as we speak. Any hivemind/groupthought resolution on the heat shield and/or coating issue??? thx, --Dennis
I think it's pretty much agreed that a heat shield for the alternator is mandatory, and even a good idea with well insulated OEM headers. Optional is a heat shield for the motor mounts, brake lines, and oil resevoir - depends on how crazy you want to go. I'm crazy and will make up shielding for all those. The more I research coatings it seems like there's a some small benefit to engine bay heat, plus it helps keep them 'silver'. I'm leaning towards going with my local source (see pic above of my STi headers with that coating). Group buy still open, c'mon in!
I just bought a 1995 355 and it is on way to shop for 30k-engine out. Is group bu still open? Thanks guys
