I used to have a bottle of Ferrari cologne. Didn't smell half bad, and interestingly enough, strippers liked it. :D

Ferrari's Red cologne is actually good. Its a fresh , clean scent.
I thought it would suck, I use it often.

Actually it does hurt their image. When you spread an iconic image so thin that you are now producing SHOWER GEL it is only a matter of time before the prancing horse ends up on a roll of toilet paper. Does it clean behind my ears "faster"? What do hygiene product have to do with one of the worlds greatest automobile brands?

I think the worst Ferrari branded item was the Ferrari Segway.

OK, the choice is this. Either the revenue to support car production and F1 comes from licensed products or an SUV ala Porsche Cayenne. Which would you rather see?

I agree. It may not hurt them today, but most people here did not become enamored with Ferrari in the past few months, it was many years ago growing up. The cars were exceeding rare - I saw them only at autoshows and 2 other occasions (that I remember distinctly) and I grew up in Northern VA in the suburbs of DC, not in the boonies. It only added to the mystique. No advertising, no hats, no shoes. You read about them in magazines and saw them on TV and otherwise just dreamed. And that is what fueled the passion.

So the kids today - the tifosi of tomorrow - are going to get excited about seeing daddy splash on some Ferrari aftershave, slip on that Ferrari T-shirt, button up the Ferrari jacket, and hop in the minivan to head for the vacation at Ferrariland?

The cars are much more common today. The brand is mush more visible. I do believe the image is being diluted. It will not be the same in 20 years. It will still be a popular car, and an expensive car. But I don't think it will be the same.

I'd like to see Ferrari's balance sheet.

With the cost of a single F1 engine running about $1M a copy and they go thru how many in a season, and all the other ridiculas expenses in F1 these days, I seriously doubt my $600 tickets to see the German Grand Prix and the selling of a few street cars is going to keep Ferrari on the track for long.

All (most) of the other teams have a HUGE financial base to draw upon, Ferrari has Fiat and.......... Ferrari. I wonder how deep that really is.

Be careful what you ask for. With costs going stratospheric yearly, the rubber dogsh_t from Hong Kong with a Ferrari logo is probably not far behind.

I have yet to see one person who says, "No, I don't want a Ferrari
because I've seen thier logo on all this merchandise. Never going to happen.
As long as they keep making the best sports car in the world, people
will still lust after them and want to own one. All these wealthy guys on
"The List" don't seem to mind.

I hope their newly hired, presumably well compensated VP of Brand Management gets this under control quickly.
